The dealership earns praise from most customers for attentive salespeople, willingness to go beyond standard service (such as home delivery and staying late), and transparent financing without pressure tactics. However, one customer experienced aggressive negotiation tactics and unmet promises regarding referral bonuses, leading them to take their business elsewhere.

First off, I have never like purchasing new vehicles. I don’t overly enjoy dealing with dealerships. With that being said, I actually had a pretty pleasant experience at Academy! I called on a Monday morning and inquired about a pickup that I saw on AutoTrader. The salesman (Tyler) said that is was still on the lot (I’ve been burned on vehicles that haven’t been taken off AutoTrader before). About two hours later I arrived on their lot and found Tyler pulling up with the truck at the same time. The truck was just as advertised and honestly was listed at a good price. After dealing a little bit, we settled on a price. I told the manager that I didn’t want any additional warranties or service plans and was only going to pay what we had settled on. He said “No problem!” and was true to his word. I genuinely felt like the staff here wanted to make a deal and do right by their customers. The financing was quick and painless with no up sales and no pressure. I greatly appreciated that. After I had purchased the truck I told the salesman (Tyler) that it might be a day or two before I could pick the truck up. At that point they volunteered to deliver the truck to my residence (an hour and a half away!). True to their word, the truck was at my home the next morning for no additional fee or obligation!

Had a great experience with the staff at Chariot! They were more than willing to stay past closing to get me in my new Durango. This is not the first time I found a vehicle here and was taken care of! I ventured to other dealerships before this purchase and here was the only place that really seemed to take me seriously. Korbin was great to work with! Thank you

Update 06/20/2026: I have spoken with Brian Webb the GSM who has fulfilled the referrals to my Mother-in-law, provided me information about why the check engine was turned off, and taken notes on how to prevent this from happening again. The experience was still not good but the follow up to improve this was there. I came to this dealership with every intention of leaving with a new Ram. Tyler was a great salesperson but unfortunately (by no fault of his) we could not get the deal done. However, Jason Nelson the finance manager? He is the reason I did not lease or do business with this dealership. He was condescending and aggressive to my brother, fiancé, and I. The numbers I needed to make a deal were just not happening. Everything was going well until I said I found a comparable Ram at another dealership for thousands cheaper and they offered more for my trade (I was not offered what my truck was worth... at all). I told him the only difference between that one and one of the others I was looking at was no sun roof and in a smart-aleck tone said "well what else does it not have that ours does?" From there I continued to negotiate and he came back and said "the best I can do is this dollar amount" and I said not good enough. I also would like to add that when I came Wednesday evening to look at the Ram, there was a check engine light on. Magically when I came back on Thursday it was turned off. The dealership knew I was coming to look at the vehicle with the intention of leasing it. They took the time to clear the engine code but still left it dirty instead of taking it through the wash that they have built into the dealership. It made me feel like they did not prioritize me. This is where it went south. Jason said "you keep saying make it make sense so I will. You are already paying this much a month, and this much in maintenance, add $5 more a month and you will be in a new car with no negative equity". I would like to know how he came up with me spending that much on maintenance on my vehicle every month, because I can promise you that the only thing I consistently put into my truck monthly is Premium fuel and an unlimited carwash pass. I told him I wanted to take my truck and leave and he said "well nobody is keeping you here" and I responded that he had my keys for appraisal. Jason again got smart-aleck back to me and said I don't have them, we usually THROW them on the roof of the car. I respectfully asked for my keys which he did go and get. I ultimately took my business to another dealer who got me into a Ram for a much MUCH better price and an easy purchasing experience. My Fiancé also went back to pick her Jeep up the next day as she dropped it off for an oil change and tire rotation and two of her custom tire caps were missing. She talked to the GM and he said purchase them again and he will write her a check. Her family has purchased three different vehicles from here and has had great experiences, which is why I came here. My Fiancé asked if he actually would as her mother was promised two referral bonuses for sales and never got the check. The GM laughed at her. I would take your business elsewhere, where the customer truly comes first and they give you what you trade is actually worth and are not insulted and spoken down to when you negotiate or try to get a good deal. Because I can assure you my family and I will never do business here again and will share our experience.

My first experience needing an extended warranty repair was overall fantastic. I contacted Matt Murphy at Academy CDJR in Tipton. They got my truck in right away to diagnose a noise coming from the rear axle. They worked to get approval for a full rear axle assembly approved and ordered. Jordan Russell was super helpful in prioritizing my repair when it was determined that the bad weather in January was causing a delay in the delivery. He stayed in touch with updates on tracking the part. He escalated the concern through his Parts Director, Thomas, who was able to verify exact location as it progressed its travel. Matt also worked out a rental through Enterprise that allowed me to commute to work while my truck was in their shop. The part finally arrived in Indy and Matt deployed one of their drivers to retrieve it so my assigned technician Jesse could complete the replacement on his off weekend. As a team, they really went above and beyond to deliver excellent service. Jesse was great to explain the repair and we are confident that we will be repeat customers. Hats off to an outstanding service dept!!
