# Summary The dealership has earned strong praise from most customers for its professional service team, honest pricing practices, and commitment to quality work, with staff members like Mason and Sonia frequently highlighted for their attentive and personalized service. However, one customer reported a significantly negative experience, citing diagnostic errors, unprofessional handling of technical concerns, and disputed charges that led to complaints with the manufacturer and bank disputes.

The people at the service department and front desk are all great. They are warm, friendly, and super helpful. As an example they did everything they could do to make my service easy and convenient. We live in San Antonio so it’s a two hour drive each way for service. When I explained this they held a loaner car for us so we didn’t have to wait all day at the dealership. They got the recall and other items on our list done quickly and completely. And this has always been my experience with this dealership. I only wish Hitech Motor Cars had dealerships in San Antonio.

I’ve been using Alfa Romeo Austin’s service center for over a year now, and the experience has consistently been excellent. Yes, it’s on the pricier side, but you’re paying for honesty and quality. They’ve never tried to upsell me on services I don’t actually need, which is rare and genuinely appreciated. Mason has been especially great to work with. He takes the time to make sure you’re set up with the right service based on both manufacturer requirements and any concerns you bring in, which gives you real confidence in the process. The whole team is professional, transparent, and clearly takes pride in their work. The mechanics deserve a lot of credit too, everything is done right the first time, and you can tell they genuinely care about the cars they’re working on. It’s a great feeling knowing my car is in good hands. Highly recommend.

Sarcasm, Incompetence, and Completely Invalid Diagnostics — Avoid This Service Department at All Costs Alfa Romeo of Austin delivered the single worst service experience I’ve ever had with any dealership. Their “diagnostics” are sloppy, their understanding of their own equipment is nonexistent, and the service manager actually tried to mock my technical background instead of addressing the facts. I brought my Alfa in for one no-start event. What I got back was a blatantly incorrect “bad battery” diagnosis based on a battery test that was so improperly performed it’s almost unbelievable. Their own Stellantis factory battery tester printout shows: • Wrong battery type selected (EFB instead of the AGM battery my car actually has) • Wrong CCA rating entered (800 instead of the correct 900) • Test performed at 14.98 volts — which automatically invalidates a Stellantis battery test • Internal resistance = –1 milliohm, which is physically impossible and is a tester error code, not an actual measurement This test is proof of technician error — not a bad battery. And yet the service manager doubled down on the nonsense. When I calmly explained my background — former fighter jet mechanic, mechanical engineer — I wasn’t bragging. I was explaining why I could clearly see the test results were invalid. Instead of addressing the data, he tried to use my credentials against me with sarcasm. He said: “Well, if you have so much technical expertise, what do YOU think caused the no-start?” This wasn’t a genuine question. It was sarcasm — a cheap attempt to dismiss my knowledge because I caught their technician making basic mistakes. I told him the truth: “Because Alfa Romeo’s Security Gateway blocks owners from accessing ECU and BCM diagnostics. That’s why I brought the car to YOU — because your dealership is the only one with access to the information needed to diagnose it properly.” He had no real response. Just more attitude. Meanwhile, their “bad battery” claim falls apart the moment you step outside the dealership: • I remote-started the car in their own service bay before they returned it. • It started instantly when I picked it up. • It started again 5 hours later at home. • It started strong the next morning at 45°F. • It has started strong EVERY time since. A failing battery does NOT magically fix itself everywhere except inside the dealership. They also told me they had to jump-start the car twice, which makes no sense when the car performs flawlessly outside their possession. The more likely reality? Their technician drained the battery by leaving modules awake or mishandling the scan tool. So here’s what they actually did: ✔ Botched the battery test ✔ Mis-entered battery type ✔ Mis-entered CCA ✔ Performed the test under charging voltage ✔ Ignored the impossible –1 mΩ error code ✔ Offered no real diagnosis ✔ Tried to upsell unnecessary repairs ✔ Mocked a customer’s mechanical background when confronted with facts ✔ Still charged a diagnostic fee I have already opened a formal case with Stellantis and disputed the charge with my bank due to the invalid diagnostics and the dealership’s refusal to accept responsibility. If you own an Alfa Romeo, take my advice: Go ANYWHERE else. This dealership couldn’t correctly interpret a battery test — and when you catch their mistakes, they respond with sarcasm instead of professionalism. Utterly unacceptable.
