Very disappointing experience. I strongly recommend double-checking everything on your own before buying from this dealership. The car I purchased was advertised as having a “Stage 2 Dinan tune,” 550 horsepower. After a few months of driving, it became clear that these claims were inaccurate and not backed by any documentation. This feels like clear misrepresentation and misleading advertising. I reached out to Dinan directly, and they confirmed the car only had a Stage 1 tune. I also contacted the BMW dealership that performed the work, and they confirmed the same. I requested copies of the invoices as proof. When I contacted the owner, he admitted he had no documentation for the Stage 2 tune and said he had simply been “told” about it. If you’re advertising specific performance upgrades and specs, you should be able to back them up. When I raised the issue and asked for accountability, he shifted the burden onto me and asked me to prove the car wasn’t Stage 2. I provided the evidence he requested, and after that, he stopped responding entirely. Overall, a lack of transparency, no accountability, and misleading information. Proceed with caution, and make sure to verify any claims independently before purchasing. UPDATE: To clarify the owner’s response — the difference between a Stage 1 and Stage 2 setup is not just a simple software tune. A proper Stage 2 setup typically includes supporting hardware upgrades (intake, downpipes, intercooler, etc.), often costing over $4,000. What’s even more concerning is that during price negotiations, the seller repeatedly relied on the supposed “Stage 2 tuning” to justify the asking price and refused to negotiate. While they later claimed that a software tune does not materially affect the vehicle’s value and that the price wasn’t based on it, this directly contradicts how it was presented at the time of sale. The “Stage 2” claim was clearly used as a selling and pricing factor and influenced my purchase decision—making the lack of proof and follow-up even more problematic. I also want to correct another inaccurate statement: the claim that I only reached out 9 months after the purchase is false. I contacted Charles less than 2 months after buying the car. He told me he would check with Sam (the owner), but I never received a response. Shortly after, the car was put into storage, and I followed up again as soon as it was back on the road. In short, this feels like an attempt to justify inaccurate vehicle descriptions while avoiding responsibility when the issue is raised.
