# Summary The dealership receives mixed reviews reflecting inconsistent experiences: some customers praise the service department's efficiency and individual salespeople for their honesty and professionalism, while others report significant post-purchase issues including undisclosed vehicle damage, unresponsive communication, unexplained charges, and cancelled warranties without notification. These contrasting accounts suggest that customer satisfaction depends heavily on which department handles the transaction and the willingness to follow through on promises after the sale is completed.

In the middle of a move halfway across the country, my Ram started having starting problems. I got in as early as I could and they took care of me so fast with a new starter I couldn't thank them enough. Patrick in service especially and everyone there were great to deal with. I really believe I wouldn't have gotten such honest & helpful service, with very reasonable cost, anywhere else. If I end up needing a car in the future, even from my new home outside Illinois, I would definitely buy from them if possible. Also, their showroom floor music was much better than most places (Rush, AC/DC, etc.)!

Good experience on the day of purchase but very bad After two months of closing the deal and signing the contract, they are trying to charge me an additional bill without explanation. Everything was very clear at the time of purchase but when I received a letter of an invoice to collect where it is not explained to me what it is I have tried many times to communicate with John Jabber my seller and I regret having to get to this point of a bad review. In addition, I have been trying to communicate with them for more than a week to solve the situation, leaving emails and voice messages to both my seller and the finance department, and no one has been able to respond or give a clear explanation. The lack of transparency, communication and professionalism leaves much to be desired. I recommend reviewing each document carefully and being very careful before doing business here." I will change my review when they attend to me..

I recently bought a car from Sam, and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. He took great care of me from start to finish—very honest, transparent, and not your typical sales guy at all. There was absolutely no pressure, just clear communication and support throughout the entire process. While I was there, another customer became very upset and was yelling about a car that had already been sold. Sam handled the situation with complete professionalism and respect. He remained calm, honest, and respectful the entire time, which honestly made me even more confident in working with him. Sam focuses on facts, not selling a dream, which made me feel comfortable and confident in my decision. I’ve never met someone so genuine in sales, and I would highly recommend working with him! Thank you !

Don’t trust a word they say, just like they admit to in the paper work they make you sign. They will lie and will not accept responsibility for misleading you. I purchased a “like new car” with 4785 miles on it. What arrived was a car with all four wheels having clear visual scratches and gouges. A front bumper that had scratches and gouges with missing paint, that also had incomplete body work done, leaving a patch of matte paint with no clear coat applied. The car needs a front-end alignment as the car drifts to the right. None of these obvious issues were disclosed as part of the purchase, and in a car with so few miles I do not consider normal wear. To pile onto the issues, they refused to provide the pre shipment photos to help identify if clear visual damages were known before the vehicle left the dealership or something that happened in shipping. They have not responded after three weeks of requests for information. When I started to initiate a damage claim, they claimed things would be straightened out and that switched to, of course they were not going to cover damages to the wheels I should have expected them. This is only true if when going through the purchase and I asked if there was any damage to the car I was told the truth. I was not told the truth and I was not offered any compensation for the misleading claims made about the vehicles condition. Don’t trust a word they say and have the vehicle inspected by a known and trusted third party. They do not accept responsibility for misleading claims and refuse to respond when asked direct questions to try and resolve known issues.

When “Family Values” and “Honesty” Don’t Survive the Sale Bettenhausen Automotive promotes itself as a family-owned dealership built on “honesty, fair business practices, and complete customer satisfaction,” with a “no hassle” buying experience and a commitment to doing what’s right for customers. Unfortunately, my experience directly contradicts those claims. I purchased a used vehicle from Bettenhausen with the explicit understanding that it included a 6-month / 6,000-mile warranty. This was communicated as part of the deal, not as a suggestion or possibility. Weeks later, I received official documentation from Ally, the extended warranty provider, confirming coverage. Based on that, I proceeded as any reasonable customer would. When I later took the vehicle to the manufacturer dealership for service and contacted Ally to use the warranty, I was informed that Bettenhausen had cancelled the warranty, citing a “creation error.” This cancellation occurred without my knowledge, consent, or any form of communication. As a direct result, I am now being forced to pay out of pocket for a repair that should have been covered under the warranty I was promised, documented, and then quietly revoked. This situation is especially troubling given Bettenhausen’s public claims of: *Family values *Honesty *Fair business practices *A commitment to complete customer satisfaction Mistakes happen. Silent cancellations do not align with integrity. If coverage is cancelled after a sale, transparency and immediate resolution are the bare minimum expectations. That did not happen here. I will be contacting the dealership directly to seek a resolution. However, prospective buyers should take this as a cautionary experience - verify every promise after the sale and confirm that third-party coverage remains active, regardless of what is presented during the purchase process. Marketing language is easy. Standing behind your word is harder. I welcome the opportunity for Bettenhausen’s management to publicly address this situation and explain how this aligns with the values and customer commitment they advertise.
