# Summary Experiences at this dealership vary dramatically, with some customers praising attentive salespeople, efficient service departments, and reasonable pricing on repairs, while others report serious concerns about vehicle condition disclosure, unresolved mechanical failures discovered shortly after purchase, and unresponsive management to complaints. The disparity suggests inconsistent quality control and customer service outcomes depending on the specific transaction and department involved.

FINAL REBUTTAL REGARDING THE DEALERSHIP'S RESPONSE: The dealership's generic reply asking me to contact a manager to "look into the situation further" is standard public relations damage control. There is no reason for me to call. I have already spent six months going back and forth extensively with Dave Johnson, the manager of Byers Volvo. The only resolution he ever offered was a low-ball trade-in valued as a damaged vehicle, forcing me to take a massive financial hit for their total lack of disclosure. To be perfectly clear to anyone reading this: the BBB, AUTOCAP, and the Ohio Attorney General processes only reached an impasse because those agencies operate as voluntary mediation platforms. The Attorney General handles systemic, multi-consumer enforcement actions but does not provide individual private legal representation or have the authority to mandate a financial resolution for a single consumer complaint. An impasse does not mean my claims were invalid—it simply means those mediation desks lack the legal teeth to compel a corporation to act. Furthermore, independent mechanics have now uncovered that the front driveshaft was completely missing from this All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) vehicle. Whether this critical component was missing at the time of sale or was destroyed during the catastrophic failure of the severely compromised transfer case, it completely invalidates the dealership's written claim that this was a thoroughly checked vehicle backed by a Master Certified Mechanic inspection. An expert putting a car on a lift cannot miss an issue of this magnitude. A standard customer service phone call is not going to change their stance. I am taking this precise multi-state timeline, the hidden auction history reports, the post-dated inspection paperwork, and all physical photographic evidence straight to formal, legally binding AAA Arbitration. See my attached photos of the physical damage and timestamps. I purchased a 2013 BMW X1 xDrive from Byers Volvo on January 11, 2024, at approximately 84,000 miles, paying I full. I relied on the dealership’s representation that the vehicle had a clean Carfax, had passed inspection, and that a dealership group of this size would stand behind its vehicles. I truly believed I was buying a safe, reliable AWD vehicle, but that was not the case. Within the first week, the vehicle began showing drivetrain warning lights, shifting issues, and electrical problems. Less than three weeks after purchase, I contacted Byers directly to report these drivetrain concerns, but their response was essentially to point to the “as-is” clause. Catastrophic Failures & Prior History The vehicle's mechanical issues continued to escalate, leading to the discovery that the transfer case had suffered a catastrophic failure, revealing a large hole in the housing. The transfer case had to be disconnected to keep the vehicle on the road, because I had no other transportation. I was forced to continue driving out of strict necessity, which led me to research the vehicle’s history more deeply. What I uncovered was shocking. When the vehicle was just two to three years old with only 25,000 miles, it accumulated fewer than 300 miles over a single year but was cycled through three separate auctions across Florida, Michigan and Texas, seven Copart damage-related listings, 6 eBay dismantle listings, dozens of resale listings, and multiple state-to-state transfers. Other automotive entities clearly recognized severe issues early on and chose to liquidate the vehicle rather than retail it. If multiple auctions and listing platforms reflected enough abnormal history to keep this vehicle circulating, it raises serious questions about how Byersmaster technician inspection found nothing.

Alex Black was great to work with. He is very personal and knowledgeable. I messaged him on FB Marketplace and within seconds responded to me with info and video of the vehicle. Even the financial process was extremely smooth.

My experience with Carstar in repairing my car was easily the best experience I've ever had. The whole process was smooth, professional, timely, and most importantly the prices are very reasonable and the repairs were beautifully done. Rental car was handled by them, and everything was very simple and comfortable. Can't say enough about their service and the whole repair experience. I would definitely recommend Carstar for all your car repair services in the futute.

Returned to Byers for my complementary oil change post purchase today. The team made it easy. Scheduling was quick and easy. They sent me a text this morning telling and showing (via picture!) exactly where to go for the service. Arrived, and within 2 minutes met Mr. Steve Morris, and he jump started the service. While I waited, they had WiFi and free coffee bar! All told, in and out in under 40 minutes. No hidden costs or fees. When they say complementary, they mean it. I highly recommended Steve and his team for your auto maintenance needs. I couldn’t be happier with the vehicle I purchased and the personal touches the Byers team provides when maintenance is due. See you again soon Steve, team!
