I wish I could give this dealership, specifically its service department, negative reviews! Please beware and DO NOT take your vehicle here and don’t buy a GMC because they do not stand behind their products. I purchased one of the first redesigned GMC Acadias from Cable Dahmer and it is hands downs one of the worst decisions I’ve ever made. I have had really squeaky brakes for six months and they are unwillingly to help me. This car is the definition of a lemon and no one from this dealership or GMC will help us. I have been failed at every level by this dealership. Service writers - Their service writers are very rude and only help you if you have an appointment with them. Which means you will stand there waiting for your service writer to help you while there’s three other ones sitting there. Service Manager - After multiple failed attempts to fix our brakes and a shimmy in the steering wheel when braking, we told the service manager we did not feel comfortable driving our car. He told us brake issues weren’t a big enough concern to give us a loaner car and that we would have to wait until a new set of brakes came in (mind you he had replaced the brakes a couple weeks before). When we requested a field engineer to come and help he denied it. Cable Dahmer last worked on my car on 8/19/25 and I haven’t heard from them since. While waiting on my brakes, I worked with GM to buy back my car. Fast forward to October, and GM called Cable Dahmer and CD told them that my car was fix and didn’t need to be bought back - even though they hadn’t talked to me in months because they made it clear to us they wouldn’t help us until the brake pads came in. Sales Team - Told us that that’s just what happens when you buy the first cars off the line after a new design. And offered to sell us a car to get out of ours - my car is a year old and has already depreciated by half so I would be losing a ton of money. GM - They haven’t sent a field engineer to help and their only solution is to replace the brakes pads (which were only a couple weeks old) that are on back order. They offered to give us GM reward points and rental reimbursements for when the car was in the shop. They have offered ZERO solutions to fix my car that is one years old with less than 30,000 miles on it. To sum it up, we have dealt with brake issues for six months and haven’t found a solution. I have had three or four sets of brake pads on a car that is just over a year old and they squeak worse than a 20 year old car. There were multiple times this summer I felt uncomfortable driving my car and had to drive my husband’s car.
I walked in knowing what I was going to buy. There wasn’t any on the lot. The manager looked and found one that just came in. The salesman took me to the truck. I told him that I wanted it. The salesman and manager both went out of their way to make sure it was ready and I was able to drive it home that day.
I’m writing to share serious concerns about my VIP appointment at Cable Dahmer Buick GMC of Kansas City on January 28 at 3:15 PM. The experience was frustrating, unprofessional, and ultimately a complete waste of my time. I had a confirmed appointment with Cliff Fitzpatrick, and it appears there may have been an internal miscommunication regarding the updated appointment time. Cliff later reached out, was very kind and apologetic, and handled the situation professionally. I do not place fault on him. The issue during my visit was Marshall. From the moment he stepped in, Marshall focused entirely on my boyfriend even though I am the buyer. I had to speak up and insert myself just to receive acknowledged. As a woman, this was extremely frustrating and felt disrespectful. He attempted to explain this behavior by stating that “in his culture, men talk to men,” which only reinforced the lack of respect I was already experiencing. The interaction continued in an unprofessional direction, with excessive and unnecessary conversation about race, neighborhoods, black history, joking, and profanity—none of which were relevant to purchasing a vehicle. I did not feel taken seriously, respected, or valued as a customer. One comment in particular crossed a line. Marshall said, “I know I’m not Akon black, but I’m black.” While he may not have intended harm, that phrase has historically been used to mock darker skin tones. Members of my family, including my brother, share that complexion. Referencing skin color in this way—especially in a sales setting—was tasteless and offensive. Additionally, after I had already spoken up earlier to clarify that I was the buyer, Marshall later joked about forgetting that I was “the jefe.” This comment was clearly poking fun at the fact that I had to assert myself in the first place. It was frustrating and inappropriate that I even had to “insert myself,” let alone be joked about for doing so. On top of everything else, I was told the vehicle I wanted was at a nearby dealership, only for us to drive there and find out it was actually in Independence. We then waited another 15 minutes while Marshall continued unrelated commentary. Overall, my time was completely wasted, and I left feeling there was a clear lack of respect toward me as a woman. Marshall came across as someone who does not respect women, and that is deeply concerning. I will be sharing my experience with close friends and family so they can make informed decisions about where they choose to do business. This was not the experience I expected from a scheduled VIP appointment. I expect this concern to be taken seriously and addressed
I brought my car in for a simple oil change & needed 1 tire sensor. I am told I need all 4 sensors & the cost will be $900+ dollars! Of course I say no to replacing them. I knew coming there I only needed 1. They convince me to get my coolant system cleaned & i agree to it since its never been done & then they tell me the coolant hose is busted & they don't have the part so I will have to leave my car until it comes in. I am told the cost is $20 for the hose & no cost for labor. My car never exhibited signs of a busted hose before I got there so the mechanic had to have busted it. Why should pay for it? They take me home & call the next day to say my car is ready & ask if I want to oay over the phone with a credit card. Who do they think I am, a fool? Of course I say I will pay when I get there. $600+ later & no charge for the hose I leave. I wont be back. They saw an elderly lady come in & thought they could take advantage of me. Never.
Gibson was an awesome salesman he listened to me and help me find my perfect vehicle then he helped me figure out how to work the instrument panel with the new touch screen dash
