# Summary The dealership receives mixed feedback, with customers praising sales staff for their professionalism, knowledge, and personalized service, while others report significant problems with the tire storage program, including lost items and mismanaged appointments, as well as communication failures regarding vehicle availability. Management responsiveness and accountability have been cited as areas of concern by dissatisfied customers.
**CUSTOMER BEWARE** Seasonal Tire Swap and Store program is out of hand, and Clarington Kia takes no accountability for inefficient appointments, wasting your time when tires aren’t pulled from storage (and it will happen to you more than once), or gaslight you when they have completely LOST YOUR TIRES AND RIMS!!! At our last appt (after 2 failed attempts to pull our tires from storage) Clarington Kia attempted to put someone else’s tires/rims on our car, they were visibly different and my husband had photo identification of our manufacturing information printed on the rubber which did not match. Then tried to remove the small red details that were on the set that clearly weren’t ours and convince my husband that they were ours. The General Manager was unbelievably dismissive, unavailable by phone, non responsive to emails. And physically aggressive when he clapped at me in an effort to force me to stop talking!!! He continued to rationalize that they knew these were our tires because the information that was provided at the time of removal from the car in November and assured me that they were labelled immediately despite the fact that our service bill from Nov. was the first one that did not contain any storage information, and that the service was completed in the night shift. He asserted that there was no room for error and that even though they did not match our proof and physically appeared different it was us that was providing false information. They were caught in lies from the service manager telling me he purchased new rims from a salvage yard for us, to the manager insisting that they were our rims all along and that’s what we get, to purchasing us brand new rubber “as a goodwill gesture to ensure customer satisfaction” a business would not take this step if they didn’t truly believe they were wrong. GM was impossible to deal with and they refused to provide me with proof of purchase of the new items for my records, warranty, and protection. They will comment and try to tell you they bent over backwards for us, but that was only when they realized we weren’t foolish enough to fall for their lies. In the last year we have had 3 missed tire swap appointments (wasting hours of our time) because they failed to pull our tires from storage. It’s nothing but a hassle for the customer and not the speed, ease, and convenience you would expect from such a service. It is poorly managed and 100% could function better with improved oversight. Kia holds more accountability than they would lead you to believe. Last summer they broke our taillight during the swap and refused to take accountability for that too. When I asked the GM if he was going to put disclaimers on their tire swap program that tires could go missing he responded “no would a restaurant put on their menu that sometimes your meal might take over an hour to make”. He did not deny that ours went missing. GM also implied I was petty for making a fuss about a $30 service, to which I replied that he lost $7000 of merchandise for my vehicle. (As confirmed by a quote for new tires and rims from our Honda dealership). GM lacks an awareness in the cost of his service, and the financial impact loosing our product has. There was zero sympathy for any of our experience including all the time we’ve wasted waiting for appts or trying to communicate with the service manager and GM. I do believe the only reason we got any resolve is because we contacted Kia Canada about our concerns. It is highly likely there is another victimized family driving on our rims and tires with no awareness of this mistake. As an aside, I polled local residents on another site and confirmed that I am not alone in my experience and they have lost plenty of local customers over the last few years. They also have a D rating on BBB, and there is consistencies in all the negative reviews here. It’s a choice to build that kind of reputation! Also make note of how quickly Clarington Kia source positive reviews to bury the ratings of bad ones.
From the moment I walked into Clarington Kia I felt like family so I knew I was in the right place to find my new car. Cody Hodgson was a very knowledgeable sales rep who took the time to understand what I was looking for and then helped me find my perfect car. The whole process was very easy, the paperwork was all explained to me and everything from finding my car, financing it and then picking it up, was seamless. I am not a tech savvy person and Cody made sure to help me set up my Kia app / explained all of the features on my new car the day I picked it up. I will forsure be recommending this dealership and Cody to friends / family in the future as I felt very well taken care of. I am so happy to have found a great dealership to own a car from as I know it is very important to feel comfortable with the dealership as I want to feel like I am part of their Kia family / actually want to service my car at this location. The team there was also very accommodating in moving my pickup date farther than expected as I was waiting to hear back from my insurance. They never made me feel bad about needing to push the pickup date and over all just seemed very caring. Lastly, having the red bow on my new car on the day I picked it up was so nice and really made me feel special. Thank you so much 💛
I just bought a 2017 Chevy Equinox. It's absolutely perfect. Amrit was so helpful during the process. She was friendly and professional. Explained everything i needed to know, patiently answered every question. Made my decision very easy. The rest of the staff at Clarington Kia that I dealt with were just great. Thank you!
Accommodating, friendly service (compared to Peterborough and Durham KIA). Excellent communication from service coordinators. Beautiful, upgraded building. It was a pleasure to enjoy their relaxing sitting area and coffee.
Extremely disappointing experience with Clarington Kia. Before making the one-hour drive to the dealership, I spoke with Cody, who confirmed that the vehicle was available. Based on that confirmation, I took money from my line of credit so I could purchase the vehicle, and I immediately started paying interest on those funds. When I arrived, I was left waiting for about two hours. After all that time, I was informed by the Used Sales Manager that the vehicle had already been sold to wholesale/auction. If that was the case, why was I told by Cody that the vehicle was available and asked to come in? This experience wasted my time, cost me money, and showed a serious lack of communication and professionalism. A simple phone call could have prevented me from making a one-hour trip and incurring unnecessary costs. I hope management investigates what happened and takes responsibility. Customers deserve honest communication and respect. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this dealership.
