The dealership's sales department receives consistently high praise for friendly, straightforward service and willingness to go above and beyond for customers, including negotiating better rates after initial paperwork. However, the service department has faced serious complaints regarding diagnostic practices, with customers alleging inflated repair estimates and unresolved issues following recall work.

I have to come on here and leave a 5 star review. Id leave a 10 star review if I could. My wife and I traded in our big truck and bought a new car. From beginning to end our experience has been top notch! We worked with Robbie Peters and he was amazing and down to earth. We got to work with Mary McCloud on the financial side. She is so bubbly and fun. We signed off on everything after accepting our rate and monthly payment. The next day we returned so they could clean and gas up the new car and Mary told us she got a better rate and deal in this morning. She cancelled our initial paperwork and accepted the better deal and redid the paperwork for us. To go above and beyond to get us a much better deal even when she didnt have to. We have mich respect for this dealership.

Excellent car buying experience! I have purchased a lot of vehicles over my life and I must say this transaction has been by far the least painful. I worked with Cooper and he was very easy to work with. Actually everyone from sales to finance manager were very friendly and straight forward, no back and forth. Great place to purchase a vehicle. They’ll treat you right!

Avoid the Service Department at All Costs If I could give zero stars, I would — specifically for the service department at Cooper Chevrolet in Walterboro, SC. While traveling on vacation we experienced a break down on the road. This left a family, including our pets stranded, stressed and vulnerable. There was a moment of opportunity for this dealership to be the hero’s however they saw an opportunity to take advantage of that situation rather than help. There was no genuine attempt to diagnose or inspect the vehicle. No meaningful troubleshooting. No proper inspection. No diagnostic process whatsoever. Instead, they immediately jumped to a worst-case scenario, presenting an outrageously inflated estimate for repairs — all without even determining what was actually wrong. It was clear this wasn’t about fixing a problem; it was about padding a bill and hoping a stranded family wouldn’t question it. Any reputable service department knows that diagnostics come before estimates. Cooper Chevrolet skipped that step entirely and went straight to fear-based upselling. That is not professionalism — that is predatory. We had no choice but to leave the vehicle there and later had it transported home. Once a different shop was able to properly inspect the vehicle, we determined that the catastrophic repairs they claimed were “necessary” were never needed at all. The repairs were significantly less than we were originally quoted. If you choose to visit Cooper Chevrolet Service Dept in Walterboro, especially if you’re from out of town or in a tough spot, I recommend a second opinion before agreeing to let them do anything to your vehicle. This experience was unprofessional and in no way could possibly meet the expected GM service protocols.

I was looking for a long bed. They did not have one in stock. Cooper called me later having found one. Had it the next day. Paperwork was very fast. Enjoyable process.
