# Summary The dealership receives mixed reviews reflecting significant inconsistencies in service quality and customer communication. While some customers praise individual sales and service staff for professionalism and efficiency, others report serious concerns including questionable diagnostic recommendations, vehicle damage during service, poor repair quality, and conflicting information about warranty coverage that left them frustrated and out of pocket for unexpected repairs.
I brought my 2017 GMC Sierra (92,000 miles) to Fort Washington Chevrolet in April for three issues: a non-working passenger power seat, a new key fob, and a multi-point inspection. Their recommendations were surprising. I was told the entire seat track needed replacement for approximately $1,600, the transmission cooler lines were starting to leak and needed replacement for about $940, and a new key fob would cost $270. I approved the cooler lines and key fob and paid the $205 diagnostic fee, but I declined the seat repair because the diagnosis didn't seem right. After picking up my truck and paying more than $1,400, I discovered a dent in the chrome section of my rear bumper that was not there before service. I contacted my service advisor, Josh, who reviewed the security footage and confirmed the damage occurred at the dealership. To his credit, he acknowledged the issue and said it would be repaired. Around the same time, I began experiencing a transmission jerk that had never occurred before the cooler line replacement. When I brought the truck back for the bumper repair, the replacement chrome piece had large gaps and did not fit properly. Instead of replacing the bumper assembly, they replaced only the chrome section, and the result looked noticeably worse than the original. The truck had to go back yet again. I also asked them to diagnose the new transmission issue. After keeping my truck for more than a week, I was told it "probably needs a new transmission" because of the vehicle's age and mileage, with an estimated repair cost of $7,000. They initially attempted to charge another $205 diagnostic fee for this conclusion. When I questioned how "probably" qualified as a diagnosis, I was told that a complete teardown would cost significantly more. Josh eventually waived the fee, which was appropriate given the lack of a definitive diagnosis and the fact that the issue appeared only after their transmission-related work. The most concerning part of this experience was the original seat diagnosis. Instead of approving a $1,600 seat track replacement, I researched the issue myself, purchased a $20 seat switch online, installed it in minutes, and completely fixed the problem. The seat has worked perfectly ever since. Between the incorrect seat diagnosis, the damage to my vehicle while in their care, the poor-quality bumper repair, and the vague recommendation to replace an entire transmission, I have lost confidence in this dealership's service department. There are other dealerships in the area, including options in Alexandria and elsewhere, and that is where I will be taking my vehicle in the future.
My purchasing experience was incredible. Dag the salesman did everything he can to get me into the car I wanted. My experience with him was professional and stress free. Him and his general manager were great and I appreciate them so much. Thanks again. I love my car! I will definitely will be recommending Fort Washington Chevrolet to family and friends!!!
Completely aggravated. I called last week about getting my vehicle serviced and wanted to know if I still had warranty. The lady in service asked my vehicle information as well as mileage and I provided everything and she pulled up my information. At that point she said yes you still have warranty on everything. So we scheduled. We yesterday were driving my car and the alienator out of no where quit. So I call ONSTAR that I pay for every month and they even said my car is on warranty so I said cool and that I needed a tow truck they got me scheduled and all. So then when I woke up I said let me call Chevy real quick. The guy don or Dan in the service department told me no you don’t have warranty. At this point I’m aggravated because I’m being told one thing by one person and something by another. Then I talk to the finance person and he said I don’t have anything. Then me and my boyfriend got to talking and so my next question is if I don’t have warranty then who paid for the tow truck? Well then they put me back on with don or Dan and he kept saying I don’t know. Like that’s not helpful at all. So then I talk to another lady and I had tried to speak to Kevin and he wasn’t in and I’m like oh my god at this point. So then the lady said well you did have extended warranty but you canceled it. I never canceled anything I told her. I had set everything up with Mike and it got down to the point I’m on the phone with the GM. He was acting like it was my screw up the whole time and it wasn’t. My stuff never got set up or anything correctly. Also, to top it off the GM also hung the phone up on me. So now I have to pay for an alternator out of pocket. I’m not happy with it at all. I spoke to over 5 people trying to get the correct answers and no one could give me the correct one.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had the BEST experience at Ft. Washington Chevy! Service Advisor Don Curtis and Technician Gordon are an amazing team. From the moment I arrived, everyone was friendly, professional, and efficient. I was told my oil change would take about 45 minutes, but they had me in and out in less than 30 minutes! On top of that, they had a car show going on, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. It’s hard to find great customer service these days, but Don and Gordon truly exceeded my expectations. If you’re looking for honest, efficient, and top-notch service, GO SEE DON! He and Gordon are hands down the best team I’ve ever encountered at Ft. Washington Chevy! 🚗⭐👏
Yani Perez was great! Extremely patient and kind hearted. She even went out of her way to help set up insurance with an outside company, working hard to get us the lowest price available. If I come back here, it’s strictly because I want her excellent service! 10/10 :)
