Don’t buy a car from John without a carfax report. I tried buying a 2012 Mercedes Benz E350 Diesel from John this year. He was not able to provide a carfax report for me when I spoke to him. I had to go online and pay $28 for a carfax report and find out the history of this vehicle. I come to find out this car was originally from the state of Texas and that the odometer had been tampered with. Texas is notorious for odometer rollbacks, which meant that this vehicle should have way more miles registered. Please don’t buy from this person and specially without a carfax report.

I bought my first car, a 2003 VW Golf TDI, from John about a month ago. When I asked to take it for a test drive, he said he would need a copy of my license and insurance. I handed him my license and explained I didn't have insurance because I didn't have a car. He said he needed it so that he wouldn't have to pay for the car if I crashed it on the test drive. I never ran into this in my last month of car searching, but agreed to have him do most of the test drive. As he drove, he explained he was different from most dealers in that they buy as many cars as possible to have the largest possible variety, yet don't know anything about the cars they're selling. John prefers to sell about 5 cars at a time, but to know everything about them. He even said he drove this Golf to and from work, so when I asked if the car had any problems, he replied, "No. If there was anything wrong with it, I would know because I drive it to work every day." That made sense, and I liked the idea of him having 5 cars he knew, rather than 50 cars he didn't. He eventually pulled over and let me drive about 5 blocks in heavy traffic. Afterwards I told him I was interested. I had several chances to buy better VW diesel cars than this one, but always left empty-handed because someone would buy it while I was still thinking. I mentioned the back seat not folding down and he said he would have his mechanic fix it for free. We negotiated a price, and after I signed the papers I asked if I could pay the day after, because the whole thing took longer than I thought it would after traffic. I also had to go to work and didn't have the cash on me. He insisted I pay then because another person could buy it between now and then, which I had been victim of in the past. We drove to my bank to get the money. He said he could take an uber back to his dealership if I didn't want to drive him back, but I did because it seemed like the right thing to do. Now extremely late for work, I left the car there because I didn't know how fast I could get to work in heavy traffic, being a biker. He said he would hold onto the keys until tomorrow. When I got the there I received a text saying he left the keys on the front left tire. The first thing I noticed driving was the brakes were shaky, something I wasn't able to notice because of the traffic during my "test drive". Not to mention the tank was completely empty. I called his mechanic, whose shop had closed down, and met someone else who knew John and would fix the seat. When I mentioned the brakes to him, he gave me a quote of $700 for the brakes and rotors. I asked John to pay for 50%. He said the brakes are wearable and the car was sold as is, which wasn't explained to me when signing the paperwork (again, this was my first car). I was persistent for a few weeks but he still wouldn't budge. I explained to him that I bought the car up-front, 100% cash, drove him back to his dealership, risked my own job, AND let him sell it to me with an empty tank and he wouldn't have any of it. I knocked $295 off the $5995 sticker price, meaning I paid $6400 for the car in total. Although it could have been much worse, there's no way I would've paid that much if I knew from the beginning that the brakes were faulty. I could've found a younger car with fewer miles for less than that. The Golf has 151,000. It's more my fault than John's. I should have walked away when he mentioned the insurance. Or when I didn’t get a test drive. Or when he wanted me to pay on the spot. But I didn’t because I was exhausted from car searching and wanted to be done. At the end of the day I learned a very valuable lesson: don't buy cars on impulse. Besides, I'm not the one who has to wake up in the morning knowing that I rip off 20-year-olds for a living. Do not buy from JB Motors.

Purchased a snowmobile from John a month ago. The experience went smooth and he went out of his way to ensure I had a good experience. I wouldn’t hesitate to use him again. Also very knowledgeable about the sport.

*DIESEL BUYERS BEWARE: This guy is ALL about profit vs reliability or being reputable! MANY dealers are acquiring diesel cars from VW with emission recalls. Dealers get paid by VW for all emission fixes...no direct cost to him. These cars sat in a field for 2+ years post recall a few years ago & just returned to dealers to sell. All he did was get paid by VW to fix the recall. He plasti dipped all tires that were mismatched to hide them being mismatched, and sprayed the wheel and calibers without even removing the wheels! He was trying to hide poor tires by making them shiny with plasti dip!! Further, he wiped out all engine codes to not be traceable verified by 2 mechanics. No way to know past engine issues. Car fax showed damage to front fender that was taped up from underneath with duct tape & spray painted to hide paint damage vs fixed safely or properly, that could have fallen off while driving. He couldn’t even be bothered to change any oils, windshield wiper blades, broken grill, cracked tail light covers, and made us wait for over 30 mins for an appointment at 11am as he wanted to sleep in!! We begged for a 10am appt, and he more than less said “not even on a good day, as I’m a special small business.” He obtained the car from an auction so paid bottom dollar and invested next to zero short of a wash, plasti dip tires and touch up paint to present a sub par product to pay his billls!! He couldn’t even replace a wiper blade!! Seriously, this type of business practices should be a crime!!!! DO NOT BUY and look for all hidden issues...there will be MANY!!!!!

I wanted to look at an Audi A4 that Jon had on his lot. Our adventure starts when I request an appointment 45 mins in to the future, Jon agrees. When I arrive he was nowhere in sight, I call him again and he claims to be 5 mins away… First strike on the list; being late to your own appointment. After waiting he arrives and opens his doors to show me his vehicle. He was very distant in his approach and just hid in his office while my girlfriend and I looked around the car discovering all the hidden gremlins. One of the first things I noticed were tons of misc. broken pieces of plastic hidden underneath the chairs, in the glove compartment, and behind the rear seat tunnel.. Looking through the car Jon claimed he did not know it was lowered than stock, when clearly it was almost rubbing the tires to the car. A quick inspection of the trunk space showed intense water damage, again after bringing it to Jon’s attention he dismissed it as saying it couldn’t be water damage because it did not have a smell... He told me to take his own car to the car wash and test it for water leakage myself! When it came to the test drive he didn’t come with us, he sat in his office again like a little hermit, upon arrival back to his lot, he was nowhere to be found. A quick inspection under the hood showed that plastic cover pieces were just dangling on by nothing but gravity themselves and a quick wrong turn could potentially get these cover pieces near the timing belt and cause havoc. When it came to negotiating, Jon didn’t take anything I said into consideration for his price, he just said “If you wanted this car you should have wanted it in march when the prices for this type of vehicle are much lower, everyone wants one now so the prices have gone up” and even being as brash as to call me a “knucklehead” saying that “knuckleheads like you who own a 90’s front wheel drive accord want to go snowboarding want these (referring to the Audi) so you’re going to have to pay a premium” A couple hours later, after leaving the sale, Jon calls me to harass me for leaving a one star review, well congratulations Jon! You have prompted me to finish the review I had completely forgotten about. He kept going on about how I was wrong for having this experience and my perspective as a customer wasn’t worth anything since he had been in business for 12 years. It amazes me that he has the attitude he does. After staying on the phone with him for over 30 mins explaining my perspective and why I gave him a 1 star review it basically devolved into him calling me a liar saying that I was early when I was really exactly on time and him saying that his car didn’t have any problems, when they were clearly problems present.
