# Summary The dealership receives highly polarized feedback regarding sales versus service experiences. While sales staff, particularly Josh, consistently earn praise for competitive pricing and personalized attention, the service department faces serious criticism for poor communication, missed appointments, and incomplete work on recall repairs.
Bought a brand new 2026 equinox from them in August 2025. Great buying experience from Ethan Secosh (who is now at Mountain Top Motor if you want a good buying experience) I just brought it in for a warning light and an oil change. I was going out of town for the week and dropped the car off on Sunday and told them I would be back Friday morning to pick it up. They were fine with that prior to me dropping it off. I called them Friday afternoon because I had not heard anything from them. Thats when they told me they just pulled it in and it needs a gateway module. The man tells me they haven't ordered the part yet because GM is involved with it and from my understanding they were going back and forth about it. They tell me it will be ATLEAST a week before its done and I should get a rental. I SHOULD GET A RENTAL? When I asked them about a loaner car because a rental was not an option for me, they told me it’s changed and thats how GM does it now. I called the direct service line to General Motors and they told me that no, that is not true. If a dealer is out of loaner cars we will reimburse up to $40 a day for a rental. Long story short this has been a disaster and they have been zero help. Not a happy customer at all!
I decided to purchase a 2026 Silverado 1500 and spent significant time using AI models to analyze pricing. Once I had set a price, I called dealerships in Illinois, Iowa, and Missouri and presented my terms. I told each sales associate that if they could accommodate my terms, I would purchase the truck. I said to myself that if no one agreed to my terms, I would cancel the purchase and try again next year. My terms were very aggressive, and I was willing to drive upwards of 200 miles. When I spoke with Josh, I told him that I had the same offers out to other dealerships. Josh called me back almost immediately and agreed to my terms. Just to let you know, I likely received a dozen or more offers and counteroffers from other dealerships, and those conversations went on all day. As I was driving from Illinois to Missouri to purchase the vehicle from Josh, the other dealerships were finally agreeing to my terms. The point is that half of the dealerships eventually reached the bottom; it just took some longer than others. It took Josh no time at all to agree. Let this be a lesson to both customers and the sales managers. If you are a consumer seeking a great deal on your next vehicle purchase, please be patient. If you are a sales manager looking to win the sale, consider reducing bartering. I know, easier said than done. The internet makes car buying a consumer's dream. Use it. Get the finalized deal, after tax, title, etc., written up so you can confirm you are paying exactly what you expect. Do all of this work while in your pajamas in the comfort of your own home. Don’t sit in the sales office all day, irritated and frustrated. If every vehicle were sold at a set price to everyone, consumers wouldn’t have to worry about haggling. It’s not the consumer's fault that the system is designed to frustrate. So flip the terms and let the car-buying process work for you. If you are unprepared, a 40k truck can become a 55k truck the minute you walk into the finance office. In reality, the consumer has all the power, so long as the consumer wants rather than needs. Remember that when you come to the table. I would rather walk 10 miles every day than get taken advantage of, so I had no problem waiting another year to buy a truck if nobody wanted to deal. That is called consumer power. The opposite is true regarding need. It puts the power in the dealership's hands and places you at their mercy. Jim Trenary in Troy won the sale. They outperformed many dealerships across Illinois, Missouri, and Iowa. If you are serious about buying a vehicle, call Josh at Jim Trenary. Provide him with your terms and see what he can do. After my experience, if Josh at Jim Trenary can’t get you what you want, chances are no one can. I will call Jim Trenary in Troy anytime I ever buy another vehicle. Thank you!
We just bought a new Silverado 2500 from Jim Trenary in Troy. We had an awesome experience with our salesperson Josh and absolutely love the truck! Best new car salesperson we have ever had. Super knowledgeable. Highly recommend you ask for Josh when you walk in the door.
Josh went above and beyond to search for the vehicle we were looking for. Jason gave us a good trade in amount for our car. Mark explained the warranties for us. We are happy with the deal on the new vehicle. We are repeat customers and we have been satisfied with the service department. Thanks to all of you at Jim Trenary Chevolet in Troy Missouri. I had an absolutely awful experience here. I had a recall on my Bolt EUV charging cord. I made an appointment and was told it would take about 30 minutes. I waited in the waiting room with my son for 20 minutes only to be told that the fix would actually take 2-3 hours and I would have to come back another day. I scheduled an appointment for the next week. I was then called and rescheduled, not once but 3 TIMES. I eventually made another appointment (6 weeks after the original one) at 9am. I was told I would have my car by the afternoon. I received no notification and eventually called 30 minutes before closing. They said it would be Monday. Monday came and went and I heard nothing. Tuesday I call in the morning and I was told it would be done by lunch. When I call at 1pm to check in, I was told it was in the shop and would be done soon. At 5pm I go to the dealership, after no call once again, to pick up my car and speak to someone about how my experience had been (terrible!) and was told no one could talk to me and was handed the keys to my car. It never moved from the parking spot it was parked in when I dropped it off. I could see that in the Chevy app. I was completely blown off, nothing was done to my car and not 1 single person cared. I would never, ever go back here for service or to buy a vehicle.
