For this experience.....My 2012 Ford Focus was the bane of my existence from the day bought it. It had a bad oil leak and I had replaced the crankshaft seal. After replacing the seal and reinstalling the engine cover, it would not start. At a loss, I towed it to Krapohl Ford, where service mgr (Kim) said they would charge me $1200 to completely time, the engine after telling him what I did, and he allowed me to assess my options before approving the repair. In the meantime, said manager attempted to call me while I was on vacation in Florida. When I came back to Michigan to approve the repair, said service mgr uniformed me that he attempted to contact me a couple times while I was out of state and he had my car impounded, pending repair approval had expired and he wanted it off the lot. Said manager negotiated down the tow & impound fees from approximately $1100 to $600, would have it towed back to the dealership for free, if I had the repair done at their facity. Verifird with said mgf again of the previous repair, I reminded him that it did not require a full timing job and.asked him to have the tech reinstall the crankshaft pulley using a timing tool to retime the crankshaft pulley before any other work was done. Ultimately, if the service manager would have listened to his customer the first time, all I would have needed was a crankshaft be to be reinstalled with a the ford made crankshaft timing tool. When I picked up the car, I was charged $300 to re-time the crankshaft pulley, did not need a complete timing job for $1200.as first quoted. But with the impound and toying fees incurred while he was was waiting for me to approve the repair, it cost me nearly $1200. All the service managers said to me was that he attempted a call me a couple times, and proceeded to show me his annotations on the quote, physically showing me the day and time he tried calling me in justification ofthe tow...that just added more insult to injury. I have been rebuilding and owning cars for the last thirty years, and I have never experienced such service. Lesson learned.....take your cell phone on vacation with you, especially if you forget to tell the dealership you were leaving on vacation, and they want to work on your car.
