# Summary Opinions about this dealership are sharply divided, with some customers praising the owner's honesty, transparency, and exceptional customer service, while others report serious issues including undisclosed mechanical problems, misleading inspection documentation, and alleged misrepresentation of dealer status. The stark contrast between five-star and one-star reviews suggests vastly different experiences, with positive customers highlighting trustworthiness and helpfulness, while negative customers cite failure to properly disclose defects and poor handling of complaints.
My son bought a car (2000 Firebird) from Kris just over a month ago. Kris told him the car was "100% mechanically sound" and had him sign an inspection sheet/buyer's guide claiming the car had zero issues whatsoever. When my son brought the car home, we immediately noticed the front blinkers were not working (burnt wire on one side, bad bulbs on both sides), there was a very large hole in the muffler, the rear defrost does not work, the dash lights & radio sometimes do not work, the left flip up headlight motor was grinding and 2-3 days later stopped working completely, the parking brake did not work, and the windows are illegally tinted. None of these issues were noted on the inspection sheet, however when we called Kris to inform him of the issues his excuses included: "well the blinkers/ebrake worked when it was inspected" (so both bulbs burnt out and the wire fried since you "inspected" it? and the ebrake too?🤔), "the exhaust only has to make it out the back of the car" (um, when there's a hole in it, it actually doesn't...), the "rear windshield is not listed on the inspection sheet" (yes, it absolutely is), "it's a 25 year old car, there's no such thing as a perfect used car" (the only person who was saying it was perfect was you, Kris), etc. When we told him that we were not happy with these repairs that we would now have to pay for and would like some of our son's money back to help cover the cost of items that were not known when he purchased the car due to him not properly disclosing them as required by law, he told my son he "didn't appreciate being extorted for money!" (Just an FYI Kris, the request for money back was perfectly legal/legitimate and on the direct advice of the State of Wisconsin Dealer inspector himself...) and how absolutely "professional" of you to talk to him like that when you were the one in the wrong... We are a used car dealership ourselves and know the laws and the inspections that are required by law in Wisconsin (Wis. Admin. Code Trans 139.03 & 139.04 as well as TRANS 305 which governs the legal conditions of autos). Kris did not do a proper inspection of the car at all, or if he did he marked everything good/legal regardless of the actual condition, which is not legal and he is liable for. He even told me over the phone that I "did not know the laws and should research better," and that we only had 3 days to bring things like this to his attention (totally false - he was confusing this situation with the FTC Cooling-off Rule for sales made off-site). He did eventually agree to give my son a little money back, but it won't be enough to fully fix all the issues. We scheduled to meet him in Oshkosh to get the cash back and I was on my way there but he showed up extra early and pressured my son into not waiting for me (I was still 3 mins early and he was already gone) and he made my son sign a new inspection sheet that had everything marked bad/illegal as well as the statement that he could not be held liable for anything else, which is not legal to do either. This guy makes the rest of us used car dealerships look bad. Do not buy a car from him unless you have it properly inspected first, or really know what to look for yourself. I would give zero stars if I could for the simple fact that he took advantage of a teenage boy looking at a "cool car" and then accused the same teenage boy of "extortion" for holding him accountable for his own mistakes/negligence. Who else will he do this to? I hope you learned your lesson, Kris. Do the job right the first time and don't take advantage of "kids" just because you think you can, they might have parents who know better. And had you not made the extortion comment, I might have let this go, but that was over the top, and I also feel that people need to know who they are dealing with and how you treat your customers once the sale has been made.
I drove over an hour to purchase a vehicle posted on facebook marketplace from Kris after an agreed price was reached. The vehicle was not listed as a "dealer car" and there was no mention of any fees or additional cost. Kris tried to turn it around on me as if Im supposed to know he has a dealer license. Not once was this mentioned. Extremely inconsiderate. Bad business. Waste of time.
Chris LeDioyt is the owner, that's who I spoke with, regarding a vehicle I was interested in. He was knowledgeable, forthright, and. Not to mention he answered all my questions, on a Sunday while he wasn't working. He made me feel confident and being open and honest when I asked questions on which sometimes car salesman and car dealerships can be condescending and rude. So much in fact I drove 4 hours out of my way coming home from Iowa going home to Northern Wisconsin just to see his inventory in person even though he wasn't there. I didn't make a purchase because they didn't have in-house financing at the time I think they do now but Chris is definitely a passionate, private business owner that you can tell appreciates each and every guest it comes within his grasp. I repeat I never bought a vehicle from Chris but I check his website regularly, based solely on his customer service and kindness that I experienced some three years ago. Good, honest upbringing
Very impressed with Chris. He took time on his Saturday for us to come look at trucks. He gave us a great deal, and best of all, HE WAS HONEST. Most of the time we always feel like used car dealers are lying or hiding things. He was upfront about everything, believable, and trustworthy. We bought a truck without even driving it! And the entire interior was being redone so we didn't even know what it would look like until the day we picked it up! Highly recommend him and his dealership. It's worth the drive!
We broke down near this shop and needed to get to town for a music gig. These folks gave us a ride to our gig, had a good diagnostic while we were gone, and referred us to a terrific local man who could fix the problem. Kris also gave us a second lift into his native Oshkosh for a rental car so we could make our second gig that evening. During our wait we got a look at some of the fine restoration work they do on cars and bikes. If they'll do that for people they barely had as customers, what'll they do for you?
