# Summary The dealership receives consistently high marks for sales and customer service personnel who demonstrate attentiveness and follow-through, though one customer reported significant concerns with service department diagnostic accuracy and communication regarding repeated brake repairs. Long-term service customers praise the dealership's maintenance capabilities and willingness to provide solutions like loaner vehicles during extended repairs.

[[Fri.15.May.2026 @ 2pm]] We have been using this location for 5yrs or more, they keep our maintenance up and always do our repairs. Early this morning had to have our Suv there to have a New Exhaust Manifold and with Gasket replaced, the other day when they were inspecting Suv they found a Split in the Exhaust Manifold, so it was set up for this morning to have it all replaced. The Matheny’s Service Desk i had was “Chris” he is a very Nice Guy and always wright up front with customers. So, about all of the Exhaust Manifold Bolts broke off, which that is understandable due to Suv having little over 100Thousand Miles and the Exhaust Manifold getting up to High Temps and causing Bolts to seize. Chris let me know this 4hour job just turned into a day or two job, due they will need to un-install the Transfer Case and Weld on Nuts to the broken Bolts to get them all out and then replace with a New Exhaust Manifold and all New Bolts as well, then re-install the Transfer Case back in. So with this being a Friday that means more in likely will not get our Suv back until about Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. I called the Parts - Labor Bumper to Bumper Insurance that is on our Suv also has Vehicle Rental Insurance if we become without our Suv due to being repaired and becoming longer then expected, which that is what has happened, i called the Insurance up and explained i would like to use the Parts - Labor Rental Insurance, then i was told this (((( Due to Authorized Hours of Repairs of 6hrs, Rental Insurance will not kick in until 8hrs plus of repairs is Authorized, i explained to Agent that it will be over 8hrs and more in likely be 14-16hrs, that Suv went into Garage at 7:45am today Friday, which Bolts broke inside of Head and will take until Tuesday or Wednesday before its done, then Agent said first it needs Authorized, i said how long for Authorization it was said 24-48hrs, i thought well this is Friday and Garage closed Saturday and Sunday, so Authorization would not done till next week)))). Here is where “Chris” becomes a Great Service Desk Employee, when he herd this, he said not to worry about using the Rental Insurance that he will get a Matheny’s Customer Vehicle Loaner, i was like Seriously, that can be done, he said sure no big deal, so he set me up in a New 2026 Elevated Terrain, that No Payment is needed and he said keep it until i call you when your Suv is ready to go. I have to give Chris a 5-Star for that Awesome move on his side and any one else that was involved in this process. (*Note*): The 2026 New Elevated Terrain that was loaned to us from Mathney’s i have to say that vehicle was so very nice, we have always liked the Terrain’s Series and this 2026 had the power as well as all the Luxury inside it, it was very spacious as well UPATE: [[Wed.20.May.2026 @ 1140hrs]] Got a call from “Chris” @ Matheny’s earlier this morning stating our Suv has been repaired and ready for pickup, went there to retrieve our Suv, paperwork all took care of. Went out and started it up and it sounded much better then it did, in total 7 of the 8 Exhaust Manifold Bolts had broken off at the Head, so it was decided by Mechanic it be better to remove entire Engine and Transfer Case to get to all 7 broken bolts so he could do welding and remove the studs out of the head so 7 new bolts, exhaust manifold gasket and exhaust manifold could be installed and engine and transfer case re-installed with new coolant, then after job all finished the Suv operation was checked to make sure it was all operating correctly. [[Thu.21.May.2026 @ 0707hrs]] Once left Mathney’s Dealership at (1630hrs yesterday Wed.) and started driving home, i could tell wright off that the Suv sounded much better then it did and seem to have more power then it did as well, I am pleased with the Care and Job that was preformed on the Suv. Thank You Chris & All that was involved in the All Repairs and Paperwork with our Suv, it was Greatly Appreciated. Mathney’s of Parkersburg WV is the place to take your vehicles for repairs!

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my recent experiences with this service department have been extremely disappointing. I own a relatively new GMC truck that began developing a vibration during braking. At approximately 41,400 miles, I was told the brakes and rotors were severely damaged and needed replacement, resulting in a repair bill of approximately $1,300. What surprised me most was that the truck's brake monitoring system still indicated over 80% brake life remaining. I authorized the repair expecting the underlying issue to be identified and corrected, but I never received a clear explanation as to what caused the failure. Only weeks later, brake system warning messages began appearing. After another inspection, I was informed that the brake calipers were sticking and needed to be replaced, along with another set of brake pads, adding roughly another $1,000 in repair costs. My biggest concern is that if sticking calipers caused the original brake and rotor damage, why wasn't that issue identified during the first repair? Instead, I am now facing additional repairs shortly after spending a significant amount of money to fix what I believed was a resolved problem. Unfortunately, this was not my only negative experience. During another service visit, I brought the truck in for an inspection sticker, oil change, tire rotation, and recall work. I was notified the vehicle was complete, paid for the services, and left. I later discovered that only one recall had been performed and none of the other requested maintenance services had actually been completed. The response I received was essentially that I would not be charged again for work that should have been done correctly the first time. Mistakes can happen, but what has been most frustrating is the lack of accountability, communication, and concern for the customer experience. Between the repeated service issues, unexpected repair costs, and multiple return visits, my confidence in this service department has been significantly diminished. I hope management reviews these issues and takes steps to improve both diagnostic processes and customer service. As a customer who invested heavily in a GMC truck, I expected a much higher level of service and professionalism.

Had a great experience with Matheny. My salesperson, Jamie Karcher, was awesome; very helpful, competent, and responsive. Everyone I dealt with was great including April Teel, and the driver, Steve Fries, who drove 300 miles to deliver my new truck and pick up my trade in.

Michael Beckett, the one they call Stretch, is simply amazing. He guided me through my purchase from start to finish. His communicate was clear, and I felt taken care of every step of the way. I am so glad I don't have to deal with that other GM dealership in Parkersburg anymore. So magical.

So thankful for Jason and the team at Methany GMC. They found the perfect car for my Mom and made sure she was taken care of through the whole process. Incredible customer service. They also helped her find a very reliable used car for my brother and helped get it to him in D.C. It is like having a family member that works at a car dealer and they have been so helpful and great at every step along the way. Highly recommend.
