# Summary Dealership experiences vary significantly, with some customers praising smooth sales interactions and attentive salespeople, while others report serious concerns about service department practices, including questionable engine replacement recommendations and poor customer treatment after purchase. The disconnect between positive buying experiences and negative service encounters suggests that quality and customer care are inconsistent across different departments.
What a great car buying experience I've bought a lot of cars in my day and it was such a pleasure to work with Cathy and her team at McDonald Nissan. Everything was very smooth and easy there was never any high pressure It was a very nice and relaxing atmosphere. BTW I love the truck that I bought too what a great product. I feel like Nissan is definitely on their way back I know they've had some challenges but what a great company and what a fantastic dealership and thank you so much Cathy It was a pleasure doing business with you
I brought in my 2017 Pathfinder with about 54k miles due to a noise in the engine. Almost $600 later I was told I needed a brand new engine at the tune of about $18k. Yes $18k. Apparently there was sludge in the engine, which was not noticed when the vehicle was in for an oil change a few months back. When I asked I was told "well it is typically the new, younger guys who do those types of services and this is really where an experienced technician can show what he knows". I inquired about a rebuilt or refurbished engine and was told "oh you never know with 3rd party providers what you are going to get". I have had transmissions replaced in previous vehicles and know there are nationally known companies, like Jasper, who provide rebuilt transmissions and engines with 3yr/36,000 warranties. I also did some research and found that numerous people reported having 217/2018 Pathfinder who at around 50k-55k were told by dealerships they needed new engines. Yeah that is not odd is it. Needless to say, I paid the $600 and went to a local shop who had amazing reviews and had been in business for over 20 years. They said I did not need a new engine, but the work would be about 16 hours of labor. So instead of $18k I only spent about $5500. That also included a 3yr warranty on parts and 5yr warranty on the labor. Will never go to this dealership again.
I would give zero stars if I could. I leased a Nissan Ariya in late August, and this issue has already happened five times. While driving at around 65 mph, the car suddenly shifts into neutral, shows an “EV system failure” message, and then shuts off after a few minutes. I’ve had to wait for nearly two hours in unsafe conditions on the far-left shoulder of the road for Nissan roadside assistance to tow the car to Nissan McDonald. Unfortunately, there was no support for getting home, no shuttle or rideshare assistance was offered. In contrast, my previous experience with Toyota was much better. They provided a loaner vehicle and even arranged Uber rides when needed. Based on this experience, I would not recommend Nissan, especially this dealership.
I purchased a Preowned car today, (June 24, 2026). Had such an amazing experience from start to finish. I worked with Jonah. When I reached out this morning, he was quick to do a very detailed video of the exterior and interior the car before I drove down. When I got there, he had the car out front and waiting . He provided the perfect amount of information while still giving me enough room to check out the car and make my decision. He was detail orientated while still being very personable. I was in and out of the dealership in no time. I drove down with my kids and didn’t have a trade-in so he even helped deliver the car back to my house. If I was buying a car at this location, I would 100% ask for Jonah. He’s young, but I would say he’s going to be a top sales guy in no time with the experience I had. Thanks, Jonah and the entire team that made this a wonderful experience.
As a lifelong McDonald Nissan loyalist, my household currently drives five of their vehicles: an Altima, a Rogue, a Pathfinder, a Leaf, and a Sentra. We were loyal customers back when this location was Larry H. Miller, but since the transition to McDonald Nissan, the service department has gone completely downhill. My latest interaction just keeps getting worse. Anyone can treat you nicely when you are buying a car. What truly matters is how they treat you afterward, and McDonald Nissan completely fails and is arrogant, and condescending. Hostile Service Advisor: I advised the service advisor that I wanted a just an oil changed and no extras when she check me in. When I confronted the advisor about the unauthorized charge on my bill, she was completely condescending. Instead of correcting the mistake, she refused to remove the charge, told me I "booked it online and had to deal with it," and forced me to pay for service I explicitly declined. Zero Paperwork Provided: To make matters worse, she refused to give me my physical paperwork at checkout and never emailed it to me. I now have no record of my receipt, nor can I view the recommended repairs from the multi-point inspection. This service department has been declining for a long time, but being talked down to and forced to pay for unauthorized work is unacceptable. I strongly advise staying far away from McDonald Nissan—both for vehicle purchases and service.
