# Summary The dealership receives consistently high praise for individual salespeople who demonstrate product knowledge and personalized service, but faces significant criticism regarding service department communication, responsiveness, and professionalism. Multiple customers reported difficulty reaching service staff, lengthy wait times, and unprofessional interactions with service advisors, which contrasts sharply with positive experiences during the sales process.
I accompanied my mom to MINI of West Chester to help her shop for a car, and we had the absolute pleasure of working with Brian. From the moment we were connected with him, his insight and knowledge about the MINI lineup stood out. He didn’t just answer questions he explained things in a way that made the whole process feel easy and enjoyable while building that sense of trust with clients. What surprised me most is that I ended up falling in love with the MINI Countryman myself and I had no intention of buying a car. He walked me through every detail, every feature, and somehow made the experience feel personal rather than sales‑driven. Brian went above and beyond in ways that genuinely made the day special. He surprised me by putting a bow on the car, which was such a thoughtful touch and made the moment feel like a celebration. He also took the time to sit with me, connect my phone, and set up the MINI app, something most people rush through or skip entirely. Those small details made a huge difference and took all the stress out of buying a car. It’s rare to meet someone who is both incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely kind, but Brian is exactly that. If you’re thinking about getting a MINI, do yourself a favor and ask for him. He made the entire experience unforgettable.
Starting off, I do not typically leave reviews, however this was by far the WORST experience I’ve ever had when purchasing something. I would have left if I wasn’t two hours away from home and already sold my car. I had a verbal agreement to purchase a car at MINI of WC, sold my current car to their local Carmax, returned to the dealership to complete the purchase, however an unknown stop-sale was on the to-be purchased car. I left in a rental until the repairs and purchase could be completed later in the week. Fast forward, I return the rental to which the service center did not have any idea of why it was being returned or who rented it and would not directly take the keys to the vehicle. We waited an hour or so before a finance person tried to sell an extended warranty, which I denied and was met with sarcasm and belittling. We were then left for hours(2+) in the waiting room until signing papers which we went through quickly and then he left with no directions or keys. We waited for original salesperson (who was extremely kind and patient with us) and gave us the keys. The following days I received a call from my bank and the finance person didn’t send all the paperwork/agreement of sale to the Lender. After a chaotic purchase and the most unkind/unprofessional staff, I do not recommend.
We bought our 21 Mini Cooper Countryman from Oto’s Mini in March of 21. Our salesman Pete Barcus was absolutely wonderful. We give him 5 stars. We have had the mini serviced there every year since we purchased it. This year (2025) was absolutely horrible. We dropped the car off on a Wednesday evening after hours for state inspection, emissions, and an oil change. We finally get a call from our service advisor Heather Detritis around 10:45 Thursday morning and I was in a meeting and could not answer. I start calling back at 11:00am and could not get an answer. Finally get a call back around 12:30. I was told by Heather Dearitis the car was due for a brake fluid flush and refill and they could not proceed without approval. I give them the ok to proceed with the brake fluid service along with the other items that were scheduled. Heather informed me that it may not be completed on Thursday because it took so long for me to approve the work. I tried calling for 2 hours and no one would answer the phone. Fast forward to Friday. We get a text with a video of the state inspection at 9:08 stating everything looked good and the oil change and brake fluid service was complete. I waited for the call to pick up the car. I get another text at 12:15 that there are recommended services that should be done. A fuel system cleaning, coolant flush and refill, and it should have the battery changed. Another $1,200 worth of work. The car has 23,000 miles on it so I decline the services and ask them to call me. I get a call at 12:30 with attitude from Heather “I see you declined the recommended services” I replied we will evaluate the recommendations and bring the car back if we feel they are needed. Heather said “I will get the paperwork from the service tech and call you when you can pick up the car” this was at 12:30 on Friday. I asked what time they closed because we have a long drive to get to Otto’s and Heather said 5:30pm. I said I look forward to your call. I’m driving home from work at 3:30 and decide to call my wife to see if she got a call. No surprised, she heard nothing. I start calling repeatedly to every number I can find. Not one person answered and I had to leave messages. 3 of the numbers went to Heather DeRitis’s voicemail. We decide to drive to the dealership to pick up the car and hope it was ready. We walk in the door and a nice young man approached us and asked how we were doing and how he could help. At this point, this was the most pleasant part of this experience. He can’t find our paperwork and says hold on I’ll be back. We wait while he walks back to the left corner of the service bay to an office and he returns with the paperwork. He leads us to checkout and we follow. The lady at checkout was super sweet and such a pleasant person. You would think that Heather would have brought our paperwork to us after the job taking an extra day due to them not answering the phone or returning calls in a timely manner. They bring the car to the service bay and park it. We finish up and walk out to the bay an no one to let us know where the key is or if they left it in the car. My wife drives the car out and calls me over. She has a dash cam in the car and not only was it unplugged, but it was pulled off the windshield and put on the seat with the wire pulled out of the headliner. It’s not cause it was in the sight path as it sits behind the rear view mirror. I can’t help thinking they didn’t want us to see any shady behavior. We were not informed of a no dash cam policy so there was no reason to remove it. If you are going to remove it, put it back. They unplugged it and it will stay on for a while running on battery back up. So they took it down. This was removed on the first day as the last saved video was Thursday morning after the hood went up. Seems like they have something to hide. Needless to say, we won’t be back to Mini of West Chester. Mostly due to the lack of communication and the difficulty trying to get in touch with anyone in service, especially Heather DeRitis. I hope you get the issues resolved.
Just worked with Peter and John to buy 2 cars. I know, crazy, but love the minis. We purchased a Mini Cooper S and a Countryman. They were so helpful and accommodated every one of our needs. I highly recommend if you want a mini go to Mini of West Chester! You will not regret the decision. Ask for Peter. Happy New Year!
We took the Mini in for a oil service and engine light diagnosis. Two weeks later, the car was ready! The service agent rarely returned phone calls, and when I tried to call it went to voicemail. The problem was engine oil leak from more than one source. Note that the Mini (2017 Clubman) has no oil dipstick, and to discover the oil level requires you to run the car for 30 minutes. But I digress. The car was returned, along with a tab for $4200, but wait...if you want to use a credit card prepare to pay 3% more. I am not saying the repairs weren't necessary. I am sure they were, but the communication was abysmal and not what I would expect from a dealer for BMW and Mini. I expect not to darken their door again.
