I just moved to New Hampshire. Knowing that I needed a new set of tires to traverse the terrain, I figured why not keep up with the Jones's and get a new truck. After some networking around the jobsite, I was referred to Portsmouth Ford by two separate individuals. I did all of my research ahead of arrival. I had one truck in mind and 2 selected for back-ups from the on-line inventory list just in case. Having purchased from multiple dealerships for previous vehicles in my past, I have learned that some dealers will post incredible deals on-line just to get you in the door and when you ask about that specific deal..........it just got sold. Maybe that's a Rhode Island thing? 🤔 I walked into Portsmouth Ford, the first person I saw inside was salesman Alex Tavares and I caught him off guard when I started rattling off the specifications of the F-150 that I had manifested into my possession before I arrived. Alex was fast & furious on the keyboard to give me a celebratory "YES we still have it in stock" A thorough test drive and some incredibly painless negotiating and we were more than 90% complete to my vision. Being that I am a productive member of society, I could not get there until after the banks were already closed for the day, so The General Sales Manager, Ara discussed with me the benefit of coming in the next morning to finalize the deal so that he could get me the best finance rate available from his best option of banks that they do business with. It doesn't pay to have a good credit rating if you don't utilize it properly so of course I said "see y'all tomorrow" (I can say y'all because I'm a southerner, lol) The day after.......manifesting works.... Completed a purchase of a Chevy Colorado this weekend. The entire process couldn't have been smoother. I arrived Friday afternoon specifically looking to look at that vehicle after working with someone over email earlier in the day. Alex greeted me as soon as I got there and within minutes I had the keys and my wife and I were test driving with no pressure on our own without a sales person with us which I prefer. When we got back I asked to look at a different truck just to have a comparison. Once I went back inside Alex greeted me again quickly, and we sat down to talk some numbers. Negotiating my trade was easy and quick. We had to come back Saturday morning to finalize the paper work which also went quick and easy. They had the typical upsell in the finance office but it was very low pressure. All in all this was one of the most pleasant car buying experiences I have had. Happy to have worked with Alex and the team at Portsmouth Used Cars.

I just purchased a 2020 Explorer yesterday and Jake Smith was my Sales Rep. He was very friendly and informative. He answered all my questions on the vehicles that I wanted to drive and showed me a few others in my price range I may like. Once I decided he went through all payment options and possible payment scenarios. On Friday I test drove and got all the information I needed to make a decision. I called on Saturday to let him know I was coming in to buy. Once I got there we got started and I was on my way home in less than 2 hours with my Explorer fully detailed and a full tank of gas. I visited this dealership looking to check out some inventory, but the entire process felt a bit disorganized. While the staff seemed friendly enough on the surface, I felt like I was being pushed toward making a decision much faster than I was comfortable with. It was difficult to get clear, straightforward answers about the vehicle history and pricing, which made me feel uneasy about the whole transaction. I ended up walking away because I didn't feel like I was getting the honest and transparent experience I expected. It might be a fine place for some, but I definitely left feeling pretty frustrated with the lack of communication.
