# Summary The dealership receives praise for friendly and pressure-free sales experiences, with staff like Valeri, Todd, and Gary earning particular recognition for their communication and attentiveness. However, experiences with the service department are mixed, with some customers highlighting exceptional technicians like Zac, while others have expressed concerns about diagnostic accuracy and transparency regarding inspection reports and maintenance recommendations.

I went to the dealership on 4/28 with the intention of only test driving a '26 Forester and Crosstrek. Valeri got both cars ready right away and offered some explanation of the features of each car before I took them out. I was very interested in the Forester as the Crosstrek felt claustrophobic to me. I knew I would be purchasing the car after the test drive. I had been driving a '24 KIA Seltos and will be moving back to the Northeast within the year so I wanted something better to handle those winters as well as a Hybrid to help with fuel costs. They did not have a color on the lot that I was interested in, so Val looked to see what they had coming in on the next truck. White is my go to and would be on the next truck, but I also mentioned Green, and a dealer in Cincinnati had one that they could transfer. After a few days I chose to go with the green and paid $200 to have the car driven down. My purchase experience was a little different because I have access to the Subaru VIP pricing so there was no "haggling/negotiating), there could have been over all the fees, but I felt I was getting a good deal. I had equity in the KIA and planned to trade it in and to make sure I got the most out of my trade I looked up how much CarMax and Carvana would offer me for my car, everyone with a trade-in should be doing this. At first they offered me 2k less, so I let them know I would be back after I sold my car to CarMax and then they decided they would honor the Carmax offer as long as I got a certificate from them, easy enough. I still felt no pressure at all and Val was very communicative through the process. Things started to get stressful during the financing process. At first Kristin told me the lowest APR they could offer was 7. something... I have excellent credit and so I reached out to Navy Fed who approved me for a much less APR. I submitted the application with Navy Fed and everything seemed to be going well until Navy Fed started asking for paperwork that the dealership did not have. I sat on the phone with Navy Fed, Val and Shawn for almost an hour trying to figure out what paperwork they could send over to get the loan finalized. while the Navy Fed rep had me on the fifth hold, I asked Val to run me a loan app, 5 mins later I was approved, and approved for a lower APR than Navy Fed. I told the rep to cancel my app and went with Quantrells financing. The car hadnt been delivered yet, so I had to come back he next day with the title and registration for the KIA. I returned the next day, we got all the paperwork completed and then I was sent off to Logan, where they offer all the warranties. I am all to familiar with these types of warranties and I have a FIL who was a DP for 40 years. I know better. I let him know I was not interested, and even though he offered a few different options, I did not feel pressured. I completed the paperwork and was all set to get my car and go. Val was going to bring my KIA around so I could grab the few things left in it to swap over and off we went... him to my KIA and me walking straight passed my new car and over to a different car trying to figure out why the key fob was not working LOL. My experience with Val, Shawn and Logan was very pleasant and if I were not moving, I would have no problem buying another car from them.

I am changing my rating from five stars to three. Scroll down to UPDATE for my reasons. The update is not about my buying experience, which was very positive, but about transparency. The dealership’s used vehicle inspection invoice—obtained only after delivery—documented deferred recommendations for worn rear brake components that were not visible to the buyer and did not appear on the CarFax. An independent shop later confirmed that the pads are nearing end of service life. The update highlights that proactively sharing this inspection report for non-certified preowned vehicles could better align buyer expectations with reality and provide a safety net for buyers who rely on the CarFax and dealer inspection rather than obtaining an independent evaluation. ORIGINAL REVIEW 10 out of 10 recommended. Gratitude to Gary Shively and the Quantrell team for making my buying experience so good. Gary kept things low key and friendly while answering a ton of questions. The negotiation for the sale was between us. No back and forth with a manager, no pressure on me to do anything that did not work for me, even though I financed elsewhere. When I went to pick up the car, Tijuan Neal, the finance manager, met with me to finalize the documents. Quick and easy, and we had a few good laughs. Then Gary walked me to out to my 2020 Outback Limited. He showed me how to connect my phone and explained many of the car's features that I had not explored. Also, a big thank you to the service team for the great work on pre-delivery prep. They did some needed maintenance gave the car a beautiful detailing. As near pristine as a 2020 can get! Much appreciation to Gary and the Quantrell team! UPDATE My buying experience was excellent, but I am revising my overall rating from five stars to three based on information learned after the sale. I’m updating this review to share information learned after the sale that may help buyers make informed decisions and set clearer expectations when purchasing a used vehicle that is not manufacturer certified. Before negotiating price, I asked for a copy of the vehicle's dealer maintenance records and was advised that the CarFax contained the relevant information. Given the vehicle’s strong CarFax history and visibly excellent condition, I proceeded without reviewing the maintenance history. After the sale, I obtained the service department's full maintenance history, which in addition to service performed for the prior owner, included the service department's Used Vehicle Inspection Invoice. This document contains information beyond what appears on a CarFax, including technician maintenance recommendations approved not to be performed prior to sale (“approved for deferral”). The invoice shows two deferred brake-related recommendations: (a) replacement of the rear brake pads and rotors (estimated ~$725), followed by (b) replacement of only the rear brake pads (estimated ~$335). These suggest the technician believed the pads are nearing the end of their service life. An independent repair shop confirmed the assessment. While immediate replacement is not required, the pads will likely need replacement near the next 6,000-mile service interval, and replacing pads and rotors together is preferable for performance, component life, and warranty simplicity. In hindsight, I could have obtained an independent inspection. In the car-buying guidance I have consulted over the years, I do not recall seeing mention of the dealership’s used vehicle inspection report. If I had not obtained the full maintenance history after the sale, I would never have known about the report or the deferred recommendations for the worn brake pads. Along with sharing the CarFax, proactively providing the service department’s inspection report—especially deferred maintenance for worn safety components like brake pads—might ensure buyer expectations match reality and provide a helpful safety net for any who, like me, do not obtain an independent inspection prior to purchase.

Went and checked out Toyota Camry I had seen online for my son and worked with Todd. Todd was very helpful as he could relate with having a new driver before and ensuring they have a safe and reliable vehicle. The vehicle was new on the lot and Quantrell performed the inspection on it, serviced the vehicle, AND put new tires on it even after the deal was in place. After the service Todd personally delivered the vehicle to us as we were not local. I would highly recommend Todd at Quantrell and will choose them in the future.

So my wife brought her Forester in twice recently due to A/C system not blowing cold. The first time, the service center was able to find and fix a mild leak from an o-ring located on the A/C compressor. Fixed it but then a couple months later the same issue came back. This time the service center claimed the "compressor was seized" and required replacement. However this diagnosis didn't sit right with me as there were no signs of a seized compressor. I questioned the service tech as to how they came to this conclusion and they told me "the compressor would engage the clutch until the system warmed up then disengage". I am no expert mechanic but as far as I know, this is an indication of low refrigerant in the system, not a "seized compressor clutch". When I asked what the pressure was when they checked the operation of the compressor, the tech told me "we didn't get that far since the compressor wouldnt stay engaged". So my next question was wouldn't there be another sign of a seized compressor clutch such as a squealing or damaged serpentine belt or simply no clutch engagement at all? The tech simply repeated the "overheating" argument and then informed us it would cost nearly $2,000 just to replace the compressor. I simply couldn't justify spending that much without at least getting a second opinion. So my wife and I took her car to another service station (not owned by Subaru) and they, with only slight difficulty, found the problem was a very slow leak in the condenser coil. The compressor was functioning properly. Little more than $800 later, the problem has NOT come back, and the A/C system has been operating beautifully, even on the hottest of days. Put simply we will no longer be returning for regular maintainence or repairs and may only return for recall work. If we had gone ahead with the compressor replacement, it would have been likely we would have to return again to have the true problem of the leaking condenser replaced, which would have been yet another diagnostic, parts, and labor bill. Not to mention the cost of r1234yf refrigerant is astronomical compared to r134a. Better luck next time, but there won't be a next time from us.

2020 Subaru Outback with 58,000 miles. Let’s start with, Zac is awesome! Without boring you about the details, Zac has been our go to guy in the service department and has nailed every single thing our car has thrown at him. His communication, knowledge, and general attitude is everything I could ask for in situations like we’ve had. Happy to report, our car is running smoothly and is up to date on its recommended maintenance. They also, very quickly, helped us respond to a small recall issue that was covered , including a loner vehicle. All in all they are an awesome service center, and we already have our eye on vehicle in their lot. I’m confident buying a vehicle from them would be just as painless. Thanks again, Zac!
