# Summary The dealership receives praise for knowledgeable and courteous staff who provide informative, pressure-free consultations and test drives. However, one customer reported severe issues with vehicle reliability in BC mountain terrain, including suspension problems, brake wear, battery overheating, and inadequate service support, raising concerns about whether vehicles are suitable for regional driving conditions.

Although the people are very nice the service is horrible and the vehicles have significant problems. The vehicle is not designed for driving mountain roads in BC. We had a 2024 R1S. The first main issue, in the first year of ownership, was a bent tie rod. I drove into Grand Forks and got a coffee, when I went to leave the front wheels were no longer straight. In the end I was left in Grand Forks with no help (they offered an Uber or Lyft voucher which is laughable) and it took a week to get a tow. They picked the company and even then the driver didn't know how to use the Rivian key cards, and the cost was definitely not competitive. Rivian was kind enough to tell me I had been in an accident (I had very much not), that sucha repair with no impact was not warrantable and that I had to fly myself to Vancouver to pic up the vehicle. All I can presume is that the vehicle is not able to handle highways. Nevertheless we carried on, until we changed out of our winter tires, and on inspection we were told that the brakes were down to 3mm with a weird wear pattern and would need new rotors and calipers, a bit odd for a vehicle at that age. We drove the vehicle to Vancouver, and the A/C was broken on driving down. They fixed the rotos and blamed the salt in BC for causing the wear pattern, which is odd. They didn't have the part for the A/C and booked us in down the road when they could get the part. Interestingly my wife had a conversation with a local shop owner who had been told that the steep hill into Trail would overheat the regenerative brakes and warp the rotors. Seems the most logical explanation. So after the rotors and brakes my wife was sent to bring the car back, until the battery started to overheat on the Coq and she started to lose power in the screen. Luckily she was able to turn around and get back to Vancouver, another hotel night and the Rivian team was kind enough to let us know that the A/C was needed to maintain battery temperature. Embarrasing that they would send her to drive over mountain passes into the interior without that repair. Luckily they gave her a loaner that day, sadly it was with a non-functional key-fob. They did ask her to drive the vehicle to meet them in Hope for a trade off, nice offer except the loaner was a brick in our driveway. Although they have said they would pay for a flight to Vancouver to pickup on the first round they have never replied to emails for the refund, and they said they would pay for one of the several nights of hotel on the second I doubt we'll ever see any of the money back. The worst of it is sending my wife with a vehicle they should have known was unsafe to drive over mountain passes without appropriate battery management. I would caution you against going down this road. There are options out there.
10 on 10 experience. I had the chance to meet with Chris. He explained everything to me about the car. It was an amazing experience and he was super helpful and respectful. I also got a test drive. Keep up the good work. thanks again !
Was here for a demo drive. Jake is very knowledgeable with the car and walks through everything inside out with details. Great experience.
I had a great experience at the Rivian dealership yesterday. I test drove the R1S and it was an amazing ride. Ernesto was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, he made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. Highly recommend asking for him if you’re visiting.
