# Summary The dealership receives sharply divided reviews, with some customers praising the owner's honesty, professionalism, and customer service, while others report serious concerns about undisclosed salvage and rebuilt titles, structural damage, inflated pricing, and questionable sales practices. Multiple reviewers advise potential buyers to independently verify vehicle history and condition before purchasing, as several vehicles appear to have been purchased at auction with significant damage histories.
This guy buys TOTALED CARS (also know as salvage title vehicles) and does not disclose this to the buyer. I looked up the vin and found the car was bought from a salvage yard so I know this for fact. Salvage title vehicles are not worth anything because they have been deemed unsafe and too costly to repair, I know this as it used to be part of my previous job. We looked at a car and were very interested and even patient while waiting for some work to be done on it (which took 2 weeks)before it could be sold. I took it to my mechanic to have it put up on a lift and looked at. It had a poorly hidden nasty front end impact that hadn't been properly fixed, which bent the unibody (frame damage essentially) which is a structural safety issue. It had rot through the shocks, there was a bent control arm which is also dangerous, the tires had rubber sealant all around the rims to try and hide the dry rot and possible leaks (which can lead to a blow out and is also very dangerous), amongst other safety issues and concerns (see photos). I ended up having to say no because the vehicle was not safe and was not going to last more than a few months at most. He practically threw my deposit in my face, refused to acknowledge any of the damage or safety issues and just started flipping out about how my mechanic was never going to give the ok and that we were crazy for judging a vehicle that old like that. I do not recommend you use this guy as his business practices are questionable at least and possibly illegal. I am including the photos I took of this car, which he has now relisted and is intending to sell. Please stay away from this dealer.
My wife recently purchased a Mazda Miata from Robert at R Teto Motor Sales and we both wanted to let everyone know what a positive experience it was. Robert was very honest with us about the condition of the vehicle and handled the entire sales experience from beginning to end very efficiently and professionally. We were buying the car from out of state and he not only delivered the vehicle to us in Connecticut but also handled the emissions testing that was required and the transfer of our plates with Ct. DMV. Robert was always very pleasant and easy to deal with. He has a wonderful personality and made the buying experience very easy. Also after being in the automotive business for over 38 years myself the first thing I looked at was the cleanliness and organization of the shop and it was impeccable. We want to thank everyone at R Teto Motor Sales for all their help.
I'm very pleased with the car I bought from Robert. He is a pleasure to do business with. You can call him anytime & he will always answer his phone. If not, he will get back to you as soon as he can. I had a couple of issues with my car & Robert took care of it. I would recommend Rteto to anyone I know who's looking for a car. I love my 2007 Honda Civic. I will definitely buy another car from Robert without hesitation.
The car we looked at was advertised by Robert as meticulously maintained. When we looked at the Carfax report, it had been totaled twice by insurance companies and had a rebuilt title. He had purchased it at auction for $3500 and was asking $13900 for it. I would advise any potential customers to Google the vin of any car they are interested in, since most of his vehicles are purchased at auction, and have been totaled and then superficially repaired.
This guy Robert showed me a car which he said he wanted 2000.00 for it. I gave my word that I would be back in the morning with the girl who will be getting the car as she needs to test it, not me. In the morning I called and left a voice mail, I asked to meet him at the car. He responded several hours later to the effect that he sold the car a little while after showing it to me. I asked why when I told him I was coming in the morning and he said I didn't give a deposit that he never mentioned or asked for. The car in question was still on his lot 2.5 months later. Then approx 5 months later my kid saw 2 cars around the same price as each other. I then did a lil research on the 2 cars and had 3 different sources of dealer guide values. All 3 sources were close in value ratings to each other. My kid asked for help and together we had all the cash except 200. I approached the guy and offered all the cash we had for either car and he would not budge. Told us he cant lose money. But from my research he was asking almost 3600 over the Nada, KBB and StateBook. I know they hafta pay to clean it, get it running right and make some repairs, but 12000. in repairs for a car you paid most likely 1800. for in some auction!
