I visited Spitzer Hyundai Cleveland after receiving one of their trade-in mailers advertising up to $3,500 over Kelley Blue Book value toward the purchase of a new vehicle. Since I was in the market for a vehicle if the numbers made sense, I decided to stop in and have my 2016 Chevrolet Suburban appraised before looking at inventory. What immediately concerned me was that the sales manager discussed what she would offer for my vehicle before ever inspecting or driving it. I was initially told the most they would offer was $1,000, despite no physical appraisal being performed. The interaction was dismissive enough that I left feeling I was not being taken seriously as either a customer or a potential buyer. After leaving the dealership, I sat in the parking lot and obtained a Kelley Blue Book Instant Cash Offer for $3,882. I then returned to the dealership and asked whether they would match the KBB offer. The answer was still no, even though nobody had inspected, driven, or properly appraised the vehicle. I later received an email from the General Sales Manager acknowledging that she should have physically inspected and appraised my Suburban before discussing its value and apologizing for not following the proper appraisal process. My issue is not that they declined to offer a specific amount for my vehicle. Dealerships are free to make whatever offer they choose. My issue is that value discussions took place before any inspection was performed, and the dealership's own management later admitted that the appraisal process was not handled correctly. After reading other reviews describing concerns involving promotional offers, trade values, and customers being encouraged to come in only to receive a very different experience once they arrived, I felt compelled to share my own experience. Based on what happened, I would encourage customers to independently verify trade values, ask detailed questions, and get everything in writing before making the trip.

I have done multiple deals with Spitzer dealerships as a returning customer, I thought I would be in good hands because the three vehicles I have purchased through Spitzer dealerships have all been very good. Everyone was very upfront and honest, and that must have changed when Bobby left. I brought my girlfriend and her father there to trade in two vehicles and buy two vehicles less than six months ago, so I thought I would be in good hands, but I was extremely wrong about that. I have a friend that works at this dealership. I asked him to put me in contact with a salesman because I was interested in a 2022 Kia Sorrento they have at a different location. Joe called me and we set up a time for 630 P.m. and I was promised the car to be there which it was not. He was very adamant and pushy about filling out the credit app. Stating it was going to speed up the process because I was showing up so late In the afternoon but I had expressed to Joe, I wasn’t comfortable filling out a credit app until I knew what they were going to Value my trade-in at. But reluctantly, I went ahead and filled out the credit app. And that’s when everything went awry. I spoke to him around 12:30. The credit app was submitted by 1245. And I sent him a text, letting him know it was submitted. Then radio silence He ignored me and all of my text messages for most of the evening. I then receive a phone call From my friend who does not work in sales or finance expressing that my credit had come back 100 points lower than I thought It was going to come back at and that they were going to need a large down payment saying there was no way I could get the vehicle for $0 down. So now in my eyes, a complete stranger knew what my credit came back as before I was ever informed, it doesn’t matter that we are friends outside of the business I never gave permission To Joe to share this information with anyone besides myself. let’s be honest How many of your friends know your credit score unless you’ve told them? I called Joe immediately and expressed to him that that was not ok to share my Information without my permission to someone who does not work in sales or finance Departments. Joe then went on to tell me there was no way the deal would work with $0 down unless I got my girlfriend to co-sign (an option I never asked for) because her credit was much better, so now not only did he share my Credit information he looked into my girlfriends credit AGAIN WITHOUT MY OR HER PERMISSION. Multiple times I had asked Joe What my trade-in would be valued at he asked me to send him pictures of the VIN number Odometer reading and of the car, for him to just ignore me. He didn’t answer me Until I tested him by asking him if I brought $5000 cash, could we make the deal happen?? He then responds with a single word, yeah. But never responded to me until I brought up Money. I felt like once he saw my credit score. He judged me based upon the results and only answered me once I threw money on the table. once I got there I dealt with Marcus. Then they evaluated my trade-in It is a 2012 Honda Civic SI sedan with 265,000 miles. I didn’t expect a lot as far as trade goes but I was offered an insulting amount of $700-$1000, do me a favor and find me any 2012-2015 Honda civic si sedan for $1000 that has zero mechanical issues and runs and drives perfectly as mine does to me. I will buy ALL of them you find me for $1000. I know the mileage is high but anyone will tell you it’s a Honda and it’s got more in it. I figured theyd offer a FAIR trade in offer, now considering it rides on aftermarket wheels and suspension it’s extremely stiff and I told them that and said I have the original parts and wheels but they said “the front end was rubbing and there was popping when he turned it on” I said that’s due to the $500 exhaust and the rubbing only happens if you don’t know how to drive a lowered vehicle. I drive it from Madison to mentor daily without issues I just want something more comfortable. So disappointing when I used to swear by Spitzer dealers to everyone I know. Not anymore!

Was not happy with service appointment. Was told car would be ready by end of day. It wasn’t. Then I was told it would be ready the next day and they would call me in the morning to let me know when it would be available to pick up. Had to call 5 times to get an answer. At one point was told it wasn’t going to be ready at all that day and then had to ask to speak to Service Manager and then was told my car was ready to be picked up. Also noticed after pickup that my roof racks looked damaged as paint was peeling and my car is only 2 years old and they weren’t like that when I brought the car in. Contacted the dealership and have still to hear back from anyone to follow up. I bought my car at this location but I won’t be going back.

Ill keep it simple...bought a 2017 Chevy equinox on January 7th. They mentioned an issue with the radio display so id have to bring it back in and they would contact me once they got the part bc they'd have to send it to an actual Chevy Dealer to have it fixed. Ok no problem...never was contacted. One weeks into the purchase the heat exhaust just reeks of gas fumes. Mind you day of purchase it was 55° out so no need to run the heat, had I smelled it day of I would have brought that to their attention immediately. February 4th rolls around and the check engine light pops. Already?!?? I call to get it in to get checked out. Bring it in the February 5th they check it out and tell me its because of a low oil?!?? So they top off the oil and inform I have a cracked exhaust manifold and thats why I smell fumes....ok well is the vehicle ok to drive?? Was told "Yes" just dont sit and idle in it and he would call the warranty company about it....haven't made the first payment on the vehicle yet and all this already....never hear back about the warranty. March 6th rolls around and I go and get an oil change at a local establishment after the oil change the check engine light pops again!! This time I have them run diagnostics on the spot...find out of I have a solenoid that is misfiring and should be replaced...check engine light goes away...ok cool. Three weeks later check engine light pops again take it in to the dealership on March 28th and talk to Travis- I explain to him about the solenoid, the bog down feeling, the ticking sound and how I was in a month before. He listens, says he will write it up and informs of the warranty not approving the cracked manifold....umm....ok...why not? He's not sure why. Ok. Leave my keys for my appointment on Monday 30th at 830am. Monday rolls around I call the dealership and speak to Nick. Nick tells me he is clueless to why my vehicle was there. (Travis apparently NEVER wrote anything up) Then I had to explain to Nick why my vehicle was even there. Had someone's keys and was CLUELESS TO THE REASON!! He says he will get it checked out and call me by end of day. Calls back found deposit in your oil, got some sensor issues, and thermostat issue. Need to clean and flush oil. Ok. Have it done by end of week. Ok glad I called. He says he will look into the warranty as well about the manifold. Ok. Pick vehicle up April 2nd and Nick tells me the part is NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. About $2600 to get it FIXED!!! Goes over the work that was done and what I owe. Before I pay he's looks at the vehicle history and says on January 22nd the vehicle Passed their inspection process but doesnt say whom did it nor did they put in the mileage like every other work done up until that point. I then ask if they could work on the price with me since I JUST BOUGHT the vehicle. He says he will talk to service manager and get back to me. Ok. I then check into the vehicle history and see the 22nd of January and how Nick said it passed their inspection, but they NEVER had my vehicle until I brought it back in February.....I reached out to their corporate and Nick called me back. I then ask him about how he said work was done the 22nd, but they did not have my vehicle. I then asked who did the work and he answered "We" did...I said "Who is we?", should there not be a name attached to this work?" He says, "theres no name!" "Huh!?" Then says the work was started the 7th and was closed out the 10th but the paperwork didnt process until the 22nd!! Seems FISHY!! Anyways he also mentions they could do the repair for $1600!! Lol own the vehicle for 3 months and gotta put $2500 into it already!! NO names attached to work that was done on a date you did not have my vehicle then claim it was all done the 7th the day of purchase, with no names of who did it!! Now my vehicle fumes are ever more apparent now!! Idles so much harder now. They cracked my rim and had a black scuff on my passenger side when I got the vehicle back. I Hope someone sees this and it helps others before they deal with this dealership!!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent experience from start to finish. My service experts, Rob and Travis, were professional, knowledgeable, and kept me informed throughout the entire process. The technician diagnosed the issue quickly, explained the repairs clearly, and completed the work in a timely manner. My vehicle is running great, and I appreciate the honesty, quality workmanship, and attention to detail. It’s hard to find reliable service you can trust, and they definitely exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend for anyone needing vehicle service or repairs!
