Customers report mixed experiences, with some praising individual staff members and service quality during major repairs, while others express serious concerns about misleading vehicle listings, subscription fees not disclosed at purchase, and difficulties scheduling service appointments. Additionally, one buyer raised alarm about potential odometer fraud and ongoing mechanical issues with their vehicle.
I’m leaving this review to help future buyers avoid a misleading experience. The vehicle I purchased was advertised on Cars.com as having remote start, listed alongside built-in features like adaptive cruise control, heated seats, keyless entry, push-button start, and a power liftgate. Based on how it was presented, it was completely reasonable to believe remote start was a built-in feature of the vehicle. After purchase, I discovered the vehicle does not have a traditional remote start. The only way to use remote start is through a paid subscription, currently $150 per year. This recurring cost was not disclosed prior to purchase. When I raised the issue, the dealership offered $75 to cover only 1/2 year of the subscription. That does not come close to matching the value of what was advertised. A remote start is typically a one-time, permanent feature — not an ongoing expense the buyer must continue paying for year after year. This feels misleading, and the resolution offered does not fairly address the issue. I would strongly encourage future buyers to verify every listed feature in writing and ask whether anything requires a paid subscription before purchasing. Very disappointed in how this was handled.
Exceptional service and true professionalism from Christopher May! I had an outstanding experience at Suburban Hyundai of Troy. During a routine oil change, an unexpected engine issue was discovered. What could have been a very stressful situation was handled in the most compassionate and professional manner by Christopher May. The dealership’s service was top-notch from start to finish: they drove me to and from work initially, and when it became clear the repair would take a bit longer, they immediately provided me with a loaner car so my routine wasn't disrupted. My car was completely fixed in just two days, fully covered under the Hyundai Motors warranty. I’ve been driving it happily ever since. Thank you, Christopher, for turning a surprise repair into a flawless experience!
Paige was amazing at helping my mother and I find the best deal and car they had that fit our budget! Everyone at the dealer were so nice and welcoming.
I leased an Ioniq 5 from Suburban and was really happy with the experience, even though my sales associate changed from the time I leased until the time I picked up. The sales staff is great. Service, however, is another thing. This was true with both my previous Ioniq hybrid as well as the Ioniq 5. It seems virtually impossible to get service here. I've had multiple issues with service but this is the best example: when trying to arrange my 15,000 mile scheduled service--knowing that the service department always seems to be booking 2-3 months out--I called before Ii reached 15K so that I would not be waiting months after I hit 15K (also because I had a longer distance trip planned). The service person literally would not let me book because I had not reached the necessary mileage. Now, I call when I hit 15K miles and they tell me the service department isn't booking electric vehicles and I'm going to have to wait for them to call me back (which will likely be AFTER the trip). Why is this service department so bad? I was at our house in Wisconsin when I hit the 7,500 mile scheduled maintenance for the car; I called the dealer by our house and was in for maintenance in 2 days. It was the same when I had my previous Ioniq serviced there as well. If you purchase/lease here, you'll be happy. Caring for the car is another story entirely.
My dad purchased a 2021 Hyundai Tucson for me in June 2024. I had engine issues 3 times since the purchase despite regular maintenance. Last week, my check engine light came back on so instead of having it towed to the dealership, I went to Autozone and not only did they confirm the engine issues, they also advised me that my odometer had been rolled back like 2,000 miles to which I have proof via print out. There is really no telling what was truly wrong with this car before it was purchased. We are currently looking into legal action. Be careful with these dealerships.
