# Summary This dealership receives highly polarized reviews, with customers praising individual sales representatives like Luis A., Carlos, and Joe for exceptional service and honesty, while others report deceptive practices and poor management that undermined their purchasing experience. Management issues, including alleged dishonesty about vehicle availability and misleading pricing claims, combined with unresponsive leadership, have resulted in lost sales and customer trust.
I bought my first jeep here 3 years ago. Then 2 years ago I bought my second jeep. Last weekend I brought my mom here to see if she liked anything. She fell in love with this 2026 Jeep Compass Limited. BIG SHOUT OUT to Luis A. & Jimbo for giving us the best customer service experience ever. Shout out to Lee as well for my own 2024 Jeep Wrangler Willy’s 4XE from years ago. We both love our jeeps so much. It’s the only place that provides the best above and beyond customer service every time . Definitely will tell anyone who loves our jeep we went to Tates Glen Burnie. Thank you to Ms. Lovett as well in finance department always gets us the best rates for finance. This is definitely the dream team here at Tates . Thank you so much to all of you for all your positivity and help.
I honestly cannot believe I am writing a 1-star review for this place, because the experience started out so positively. Also, our Sales Rep may be stuck in the middle, so it may not be his fault, but at the end of the day, he was the one lying to us. We stopped in to do a last-minute test drive, and Joe (sales rep) met us at the door. We told him we were in a time crunch and he was the first sales guy all day that listened to us. We test drove a vehicle. At first, we were not planning on buying a vehicle from him, but he impressed us so much that the next day, we found another Jeep at another dealer online, but wanted to give him/tate the opportunity to get the vehicle because he had treated us so well. We asked him if they could do it, and they said yes. (Would have been a five-star review if the story ended here). They called the other dealer, and we now know the other dealer told them NO. Instead of telling us the truth, they told us they were able to secure the vehicle and to come in and complete the purchase process because that's the only way to get the vehicle transferred. (Mind you after the other dealer said NO so this vehicle was not available to them). We completed the paperwork at about 4:30 pm (5/27) and Joe told us that at the latest, they will have the car today (5/28). No worries we had no reason not to trust them. Texted Joe back and fourth a few times..no problems just working on details the car will be here...finally at 1245pm (24 hours after the other dealer told them NO) they fess up but make up a story about how the car was sold out from underneath them. We again believe them and start the process to order the car...without putting any money down, making sure it is cancellable in case we find another one we like. I was angry, but what are you going to do? A couple of hours later, the car was still coming up on inventory at the other dealer...so I sent an email to them asking if it was available? They said yes the car was available. We got to that other dealer (over an hour away) and tell them about our day...According to that dealer, they didn't tell them a story; they just said flat out, " No due to previous working relationships between the two dealers. Tate (either the GM Shawn or the manager Slate) made up the story that the car was sold, so we would purchase another car from Tate. They lied to us to make sure they still got a sale. Yes, I know it's car sales, but if they were honest, they most likely would have gotten a sale. We canceled the order and bought the car we wanted all along from the other dealer. I am hoping it wasn't Joe who made up the lie, but these three are why people don't trust car salesmen. I know times are tough, and according to their sales board, which is pretty open to the customers. It's not their fault with the current economy, and everyone is trying to make a living, I get it. But lying and trying to trick people is not the way to get business. They would most likely would have gotten the sale if they had been just open and honest. Also dont sell a car you actually dont have... Edit: After the owner's response below: I have emailed Shawn three times with no response, and I tried calling the number he left below, and it's a voicemail extension with the inbox full. Shawn if you see this feel free to give me a call or respond to my emails would love to chat.
I searched for a RAM 1500 Limited and Tate was the best deal I got. Customer service was great. My car salesman, Carlos, was energetic and willing to help me out with any questions I had. He went above and beyond when it came down to finding the right vehicle and was honest with me the entire time. Definitely ask for Carlos if you're looking to purchase from Tate Used Cars!
My sales person Luis Aulet was wonderful and made purchasing my 2026 Laramie pick up truck breeze.
Wow! Thats all I can say about this dealership. Spent the early morning speaking with salesman, Josh. Nothing but respect for this man. Definitely stuck in the middle of poor management. Drove over an hour because we were told that the money we needed for the trade-in could be met and did not see it to be a problem. Unfortunately, there is false advertising on the website so do not buy into the 125% of Kelley Blue Book scam. Immediately walked into the dealership and employees were sitting there on their phone scrolling because the dealership was absolutely dead on Memorial Day weekend. That goes to show what kind of dealership it actually is. Test drove two vehicle vehicles, a 26 Durango and 26 Jeep Cherokee L. Josh came over with the numbers and the numbers were completely wrong from what the Internet had listed. Again scam. Assistant manager, Fred came over and was very demeaning and disrespectful and acting as if we were not a valued customer. Decided after the numbers were given that we would walk away as the numbers given were not the numbers promised after we drove an hour. Then spoke to Slate on the way out who gave me the contact information for President Shawn Frick. Attempted to contact Shawn to no avail and no answer. Attempted to call the other number listed on the Google reviews, and we were unable to leave a message and of course again, no answer. The dealership needs a little bit better representation than having dumb and dumber at the front desk negotiating numbers. Also, the dealership shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. Yes we were in gym clothes, but please know we were able to afford that vehicle. Also, you should attempt to negotiate with your customers. If you’re telling them they needed a certain amount down why don’t you attempt to see how much they could put down and see if there’s anything that could be done with the numbers to make up the difference. No, instead your dealership is dead on Memorial Day weekend and a sale must not be that important to you based on the way your salesman were sitting around scrolling on their phones. Avoid this dealership. Definitely been in contact with Heritage since we left and much better experience already!
