# Summary The dealership earns praise from most customers for knowledgeable sales staff, fair pricing practices, organized service, and stress-free buying experiences, with multiple reviewers highlighting specific staff members who provided attentive and honest assistance. However, one long-time service customer reported significant dissatisfaction with how management handled a paint chip damage claim, citing lack of accountability, poor communication, and inadequate resolution despite security footage evidence.
Very Satisfied customer! Gary Pinnock is an excellent Product Advisor at Whitby Subaru. Gary made me feel comfortable and answered all my questions. His sense of humour made the experience of buying a new car even more enjoyable. Thanks Gary for the great service. Looking forward to the many years of driving the Subaru Crosstrek ๐
We are long time Subaru owners and when we recently went looking for a replacement, Whitby Subaru had the largest selection of used Subaru's in the GTA. One thing that impressed us is that Whitby Subaru does not advertise lower prices for a leased sale, only to mark it up by $1500-$2000 if you are a cash buyer. We short listed a few vehicles and visited Whitby Subaru first. Abigail was our sales rep and she was one of the most organized reps I have ever dealt with. She quickly answered any questions we had with a no-nonsense style that we really appreciated. She quickly understood that we did not want to play the back and forth offer/counter offer game so apparent at many dealers these days. She had Eric, her manager, come and visit us right away and we put together a deal in under an hour! Well done. Eric was also very honest in going over options such as extended warranties and if they would be a good or not-so good choice for our use. Lastly, the 2022 CPO Forester we purchased was "as new". Every detail was looked after and it was like driving away in a brand new car. Thanks Abigail, we have passed on the good service mention to others who may be in the market for a Subaru.
I had a very disappointing experience at this dealership. I have been bringing my Subaru Outback here for oil changes for a long time and have always trusted their service. However, after my most recent oil change, I discovered a paint chip about the size of a fingernail near the edge of the hood when I picked up my vehicle. After I raised the issue, the female service manager immediately denied any responsibility and repeatedly claimed that there was no evidence the damage occurred during service. Before reviewing the security footage, she even stated that the technician had never been near that area of the vehicle. However, when the footage was played back, it clearly showed the technician standing and working exactly in that location. Even after seeing this, she continued to deny that the damage could have happened during service. I asked whether the dealership had pre-service vehicle inspection photos or a condition report showing the vehicle's condition before work began. I was told they do not have such a procedure. Many dealerships, including Toyota dealerships I have visited, document vehicle condition with photos and inspection forms before servicing customer vehicles. I also requested a copy of the security footage be sent to my email. I was told it would be provided, but I have still not received it. Only after I contacted the police did a higher-level manager come out to speak with me. Instead of properly addressing the issue, I was handed a touch-up paint pen and sent on my way. After trying it at home, it was obvious that a paint pen could not properly repair the damaged area. What disappointed me most was not the paint chip itself, but the way the situation was handled. There was no accountability, no willingness to investigate fairly, and no meaningful attempt to resolve the problem. As a long-time customer, I expected much better treatment and professionalism. I will be contacting Subaru corporate to formally report this experience.
I just bought a 2023 Forester after driving my 09 Honda fit into the geound. Natasha was excellent to work with at all steps of the process. She was honest, straightforward, and made the car-buying process much less stressful than I expected. She also went out of her way to make my family feel welcome and well taken care of, which I really appreciated. I would happily recommend her to anyone looking for a positive car-buying experience without feeling pressured or overwhelmed in the process! Doesn't hurt that the car drives like a dream :)
