# Summary The dealership receives mixed reviews, with some customers praising individual salespeople and service staff for their helpfulness and positive attitudes, while others report frustrating experiences involving pushy finance practices, condescending treatment, and unresolved post-purchase issues. Common complaints center on aggressive sales tactics for add-on products and inconsistent customer service, though satisfaction appears to depend heavily on which staff member a customer works with.
I had an amazing experience at Zeigler! Kenneth was extremely helpful and patient when helping me find the perfect truck! This is my second purchase through Zeigler I have been completely satisfied both times. Thank you Kenneth for your patience and help!
I had one of the worst dealership experiences from start to finish at Zeigler Kalamazoo. I went to purchase a car around 5 p.m. on a weekday, and the dealership closed at 8 p.m. The salesperson I worked with was fine, but I noticed an underlying tension from others in the building toward him that made me uncomfortable. It also seemed to create unnecessary pressure and rushing throughout the process. The biggest issue was my experience in finance with Brandon Hass. My husband and I clearly stated multiple times that we would not be purchasing GAP insurance. Instead of simply respecting our decision, Brandon responded with a condescending chuckle that made us feel foolish and uncomfortable, as though we were making a reckless choice. While I understand it is part of the job to offer additional products, I should not have to repeatedly justify my financial decisions to someone I do not know. We declined GAP insurance four separate times before the conversation finally moved on. Two weeks after purchasing the car, I discovered another issue. We had been told that my previous loan/lease would be paid off, although even that process was confusing due to paperwork issues. I then received an email from my previous bank stating there was still a remaining balance on the lease. I called Brandon three times and left three messages with no response. I eventually reached his manager, who resolved the issue immediately and paid off the balance. Later, I found out Brandon had been out of the office, but to this day I have never received any follow-up communication to ensure everything was properly handled. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience, especially with the finance department and the way we were treated throughout the process.
I found a car I wanted on their website. I contacted a salesman to get a quote on that van. He gave me a quote on a different van that he had available on his lot that he called 'better' because he could get employee discount pricing. So I got a quote on a more expensive van I didn't want. After asking again, I got the quote for the van I wanted. When time came to sign the paperwork they shifted us over two doors down to Ziegler Honda to work with the finance officer. Our salesman took me over in the van and set us up in the lobby to wait for him. After having to repeat myself several times that I'm not interested in GAP insurance or tire coverage, we finally got the paperwork finished. (That particular guy was very condescending and pushy. He even said "what? cant you afford another $10-$15 a month?" If you truly believe in your product to perform, why would you push extended warranties so hard?) This alone was enough to sour the experience. I would never do business with that guy again. However, what was really upsetting was buying this car and having the paperwork in my hand, walking outside and finding the van missing. Wife and kids sat on the sidewalk for 15-20 minutes waiting for the van to come back. After deciding I had waited long enough I walked back to the Ziegler Chrysler building to find our salesman had it locked up with the keys on his desk while he was busy conducting another sale. So I had to ask the doorman to grab my keys so I could get going - I did not want to interrupt. This was supposed to be fun. I was buying my wife her first new car she's ever had. Two stars because we got the van we wanted and she loves the van. The sales experience killed the rest. She tried returning to get a tank of gas like our salesman told us to do but she was told no. I don't want a phone call or email back. Thank you for the van.
Do not go to this dealership. The service department is lazy and dishonest. The paint was chipping on the rocker moldings of my 1.5-year-old Dodge Durango Citadel with only 24,000 miles. I was first told to take it to a Chrysler-certified body shop for an estimate and approval. The body shop confirmed immediately that it was a paint defect and would be covered under warranty. When I brought that paperwork back to Zeigler’s dealership, Ryan told me it wasn’t paint peeling but “chips from rocks.” Anyone with basic automotive knowledge—let alone someone working at a dealership—could see this was clearly not rock damage. He argued with both me and my brother (who works in the auto industry), insisting it wouldn’t be covered. I asked him to submit the warranty claim anyway. He said he did, but when I called Dodge corporate, they confirmed no claim had ever been submitted. Completely unacceptable customer service—and even worse to lie to a customer. I then took my Durango to another Dodge dealership. Within two minutes, they confirmed it was a paint defect and covered under warranty. Two weeks later, the repair was complete—no issues, no excuses. That’s the level of honesty and service customers deserve.
Honestly, I have not received this much customer service in the longest time. I’m sure we can all agree when your car needs service it sucks. The whole process is horrible. That is unless you have the pleasure of dealing with Limber at the Kzoo location. She was funny, super positive, very informative and just all around extremely pleasant to deal with in a situation that could be very negative. I am so impressed with the service she showed me that I will now ONLY take my Jeep there.
