# Summary This dealership receives praise for its sales experience, with customers highlighting knowledgeable staff, fair pricing, and a smooth buying process that prioritizes customer interests. However, the service department has drawn significant criticism for diagnostic practices, warranty claim denials, poor communication, scheduling issues, and an apparent lack of empathy toward customers facing repair needs.
Bought a used id.4 pro s from them and could not be happier! Great service, took the time to go over during testing but left enough for me to explore. Lots of fun to drive, cool features and an amazing sound system.
I really enjoyed my experience throughout my car buying journey with Zimbrick. They answered a non-traditional question I had about an employee discount promptly and they made the process easy and enjoyable. With Tom, it wasn’t sales-speak and he assisted me over multiple days. I didn’t have to play hardball on price(I did have to play hardball with a different VW dealership in Waukesha for the same car) and they gave us a very fair offer on our trade-in. Mike was expeditious on the financing side of things and made us a priority when we were finishing up the papers at the end of their working hours, he was educated and helpful in his recommendations and knowledge. Zimbrick worked in our interest as customers throughout. I’m a very satisfied customer! Shoutout Amy as well for having a damn good team! It is such an under-appreciated thing in these days to have high levels of competence from management in customer-facing roles. Amy was kind and helpful throughout the process and that reflects in her staff. Thank you to all!
Repair held hostage! Strong-arming profits and commission over customer satisfaction. DO NOT bring your new car here for “warranty” repair and expect to walk out without getting your wallet ripped apart first, along with some long explanation trying to justify why they think you should pay $1,000 on a car still under warranty. My fiancée brought her nearly new ’24 VW Tiguan (purchased from Zimbrick, with a pleasant initial experience) in for a serious braking/engine control malfunction that caused the car to suddenly lose power, brake-force, and show zero fuel level. It was terrifying and could have caused a crash. Other Tiguan owners online report similar random issues. Because of safety, we installed a drive cam using a non-invasive DLC connector—exactly the same way dealer scan tools and rental fleet trackers plug in. This does not affect normal driving, and any small engine-off draw is no different than leaving a door open or headlights on briefly. Newer cars log many “history” codes, including the U3501 low-voltage code ours stored while parked. Once running, voltage is normal, the code isn’t active, and it’s irrelevant to drivability. Any competent tech should understand this. Fast-forward to the diagnosis: the tech seemed to rely entirely on that history code and forgot how actual diagnostics work. Yes, low voltage can sometimes cause issues, but in a new car it’s rare during operation and easily verified with proper testing. Instead, the tech declared the code an “ah ha!” moment and wrote up a customer-pay bill to replace a supposedly “failed” power relay. No proof of failure, no bench test, no resistance check—just a “probably it” guess. They cleared codes, blamed the dash cam for “burning out” the relay, refused warranty coverage, and charged us. We go to pick up the car—and the check engine light is still on with the exact same code. Of course it is, because nothing was actually fixed. After paying the bill, my fiancée immediately had to return the car, wasting time, fuel, and patience. Next day, the new story: “the battery is ruined and can’t reach full charge” and only VW can replace and “code” it, and refusing would “void the warranty.” Did anyone think to simply disconnect the dash cam and recharge the battery overnight? No—because there’s no commission in warranty work. Another $600 later, and somehow our under-warranty car is “fixed,” yet the original issue was never properly diagnosed, confirmed, or resolved. Super frustrated, disappointed, and out $1,000 on a nearly new vehicle that should have been covered. On top of that, we felt threatened and intimidated with warranty voiding if we didn’t approve their unnecessary repair, and yet we are left with lingering concerns of a future repeat drivability problem. Look, we understand complex problems like this are a difficult diagnosis, but forcing us to replace a battery for $1000 under circumstantial assumptions, is reckless and infuriating. We just want a fixed, safe car, not frustration and high-cost out-of-pocket repairs. PLEASE take care of our issue, and refund my fiancée for this mess and I will GLADLY update our review accordingly positive. —Upset Customer
I had a very disappointing experience with this dealership’s service department. I brought my Volkswagen in while living in Madison for college and was trying to get help with a repair that ended up being only a few hundred miles outside of warranty. I understood that coverage might not apply, but what was most frustrating was the attitude and lack of willingness to help at all. I was told they would not advocate for me or assist in any way because I had not previously had my car serviced there, even though the reason for that is simply that I am not from the area. I only live in Madison temporarily for school. Rather than showing any understanding or offering possible options, I felt dismissed and treated like I did not matter as a customer. I was not expecting special treatment, just professionalism, empathy, and some effort to help me explore my options. Unfortunately, that is not what I received. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this dealership’s service department.
Had my car towed there without making an appointment in the middle of the night because my car broke down in the middle of the night talk to them that morning and they said that it would take them two weeks before they could fix my car which is fine Two weeks later I called and they forgot about me and never scheduled me to get in and then told me they would get to it as soon as possible They refuse to offer me a loaner car A week after that, I called and asked for an update and they told me it was gonna be another two weeks before they could look at it I had explained to them from the beginning that I was renting a car at $70 a day and they couldn’t have cared less My service advisor was Tim and when I explained the situation to him, he said it wasn’t his problem because I had the car towed there in the middle of the night. Service was absolutely horrible.
